My dear sweet Lord you died for me
You shed your precious blood
And in your beauty so divine
You gave your life for mine
And now my Lord I feel so sad
That you should cry for me
For ever now I owe thee Lord
A life for saving me!
Oh Lord you cried for me!
Oh Lord you died for me!
How sorry now my silly life
The stupid things I've done
I know your life's worth so much more
Than I could ever give
And so my Lord, in return
I pledge myself to Thee
And though I know my life's worth
Its all I have for Thee
Oh Lord I cried for you!
Oh Lord I'd die for you!
So though what I do have for Thee
Will never seem enough
This is all I have to give
This is all I am
My Lord I give it all for you!
Everything there is
My Lord I owe it all to Thee
For all you gave for me
Oh Lord you cried for me!
Oh Lord You died for me!

On Eagle's wings
Feel so lonely in this skin
Don't like the shape that I am in
Wish I could break out of this chrysalis
Be something else that none would diss!
How often now this mind has dreamt
Of this other life I could attempt
O Lord O Lord
Please help me change
This life of mine that
Feels so blooming strange
Give me eagles wings to fly
I want to see more life 'ere I die
Feel so ugly in this skin
Don't like this state my mind is in
Wish I could fly away from here
And go some place that brings no tears
How often now has my heart cried?
All those tears that you have dried!
O Lord O Lord
Please help me change
This life of mine
That feels so blooming strange
Give me eagles wings to fly
I want to find your love divine
Feel so useless in this skin
Don't like this life that I'm stuck in
Wish I could just disappear
And find myself in Heaven's sphere
This life that's been so hit and miss!
I just want to transcend this life for bliss
O Lord O Lord
Please help me change
This life of mine that
Feels so blooming strange
Give me eagles wings to fly
I want to change this life for thine!
Don't like the shape that I am in
Wish I could break out of this chrysalis

Frustration
Frustration is getting me down
The anger just boils up inside
I feel like yelling and I don't know why
I want him to move, not make me cry.
"Stop being so stubborn"; my heart cries out
"Please do as I ask; without a fight!"
"Why will you not listen and do the chores?"
"You need to move around not idle about!"
Help me Lord not to tear my hair out!
I ask him nicely and he ignores my request
I ask again but the result is the same
Why oh why lord does he make it a game?
I give him what he asks but I don't get the same!
Help me dear Lord to even this out!
I feel like a termagant; ranting and raving
Maybe I should just stop and keep on praying!
I know the wiles of that evil naysayer
Stealing my hubby and now my son in his snares
Giving me no joy in this home of ours
My arm is aching; my mind in a whirl
I need some reassurance before I crumble and fall
I don't want to be like that harpy I've become
I just want to get on and get the chores done!

Church by Chance
Arrangements were made: I was on my way to the city
Almost to the Bridge: the call came from my girl
"Too tired to celebrate: catch you next week!"
Okay said I: I'll go to Murray Bridge instead!
Sent a message to a friend when I was at the other end
The beginning of my trip: I was going to stop for a chat
Then he'd been collected and I'd miss that connection.
Turned around to head for home: second message was to come
"Going to be at Mannum now: Murray Bridge this afternoon
Then Queenstown later on: maybe pop by there instead?"
Looked around that little town: my church I could not find
Went right down along Main Street: had a peek at the local map
Still no help came from that: I asked for help to find my way
My dearest angels saved the day!
Told me to turn around, go up the hill: backtrack yet further still
On my way right out of town: still no church to be found!
Had seen the Lutheran's domain: the Baptist Hall and Anglicans'
Uniting Church was farther back but no signs to head the track!
Then lo and behold I did espy the sign I'd missed that other way
It was sadly neglected, that was plain: I turned left into the street
Found my way to that place! There it was; my little church!
Small but beautiful to me still! Inside I found my place and
Met new friends by God's grace!

Aftermath
Driving through the beautiful Adelaide hills
Cruising along the busy freeway
I look at all the vegetation
I recognize the signs of destruction
I see the skeletons of trees
Burned; brought to their knees
Yet still they show their strength
Their God-given resilience
New green leaves adorn their boughs
Strength and life are there again
Only underneath the leafy splendour
Can be seen the signs of terror
The shadows draw the eye
To darkened, black-burnt bark
Still showing the pain, so cold and stark.

I hide inside
I am what I allow
I am what I think
I am what I portray
I am what I say
I am not perfect
I am not beyond advice
I am not full of hate
I am not the end-all
I am merely a vessel
This body is my hiding place
I shrink within this facade
I hide away from the world
I want to be strong
Yet, I want to be cared for
I want to be loved
I want to feel appreciation
I am darkness and I am light
I lose my temper; I hide my light
When I am calm and happy
I allow the light within me to glow bright
I can be powerful
I can be misunderstood
I feel this power; pounding in my blood

A man called Peter
I met a man called Peter: he was heading for the sun
He was in need of warmth and healing: as he was pale and wan
We stopped and talked a little: a simple exchange of courtesies
I asked where he'd come from as I helped him meet the sun
Our casual conversation was about the weather that day
Twenty six degrees and some clouds for shade.
How easy and so simple to exchange some words that day
My wait was long and boring: the parking meter called me out
So we spoke some more a little later as I went in and out
I was unhappy about my little finger: I'd cut it really bad!
Now this hard and painful splint was what I really had
I was feeling rather grumpy: didn't like my hand held back
But when I'd seen Peter, I knew just what I lacked!
I wasn't being very thankful as I went about that day
But really I was so lucky that I could get about & play
Here was I: I am ashamed to say: full bodied; no limbs missing
Commiserating my bad luck: when there was Peter
In his wheelchair: hospital gown and all
Trying to get a little sunshine to aid his skin so pale
He was just so happy to get outside into that warming sun
Nothing else mattered as he wheeled himself about
Though his leg was missing: he didn't scream and shout
He was quite prepared to work hard: didn't ask for any help
But fate brought us together and I was shown what to appreciate!
As we talked of our beginnings: mine from Hungary: his from right next door (Serbia)
Growing up there he'd learned to speak a second language just like me
So as we said goodbye again: we said it in Magyar (Hungarian) each other
We parted and smiling, I departed: feeling doubly blessed!
