Remember the Aristocats?
Disney's cute story
About those little kitties
Finding their way back home
After being tossed aside
In the countryside
Meeting Uncle Waldo and
Abigail and Amelia
(Those cartoon geese!)
Uncle Waldo was a real goose!
Lived just around the corner
Right up the road from my house
He always hissed at me
Always made sure to let me know
He was watching me!
Tough old gander!
He fought off a fox
Protected his little flock
Even won the bout
Against a great big Roo!
Waldo fought and won!
The Roo came out second best!
Waldo bit and attacked that old Roo!
Said "This is my little spot!"
"This is my water dish too!"
The Roo was found
Dead next morning!
Little bite marks all over his hide
Little twists and tugs
Where his hide was tugged!
That's one for Uncle Waldo
Nil for the Kangaroo!

Too much chocolate!
Too much chocolate
Too much running about
Too much silliness
At this Easter time
Too many people
Travelling in their cars
Too many drivers
Travelling way too fast
Lord help us get there safely
Lord help survive this drive
Too many accidents
Too many deaths
Upon our Easter roads
Too much running about
Too much silliness
At this Easter time
Too many people
Travelling in their cars
Too many drivers
Travelling way too fast
Lord help us get there safely
Lord help survive this drive
Too many accidents
Too many deaths
Upon our Easter roads
The Easter egg hunt
We planned the Easter egg hunt
We planned it very well
The children were all playing
In the other yard next door
They knew what was happening
The bigger ones for sure
Little Zac didn't understand
He was only 2 years old but
He ran around and had such fun
Copying everyone else!
There were eggs in the bushes
There were eggs in the garden pots
There were eggs along the path
Big ones and little ones
Hidden everywhere for seeking eyes
Followed by squealing
Lots of laughing; lots of fun!

The little puppy
The little puppy kept escaping
Underneath that fence
He could hear the laughter
All those shrieks and squeals
Of all the little children
Playing just across the road
It was so boring all alone
In that quiet yard
So he did everything he could
To escape and find that fun
Leaping at that one chance
To run out in the sun!
Santiago wanted to play
Zecarias too!
They were all excited
After being just a little scared
As that little puppy jumped
Up and down around them!
A Happy Birthday
I had a happy birthday
Just the other day
Visiting my parents
Up along River Murray way
We travelled up to Berri and I was
Regularly asked by my dear grandson
"Are we there yet Nana?"
"How much further?"
"Not far now! " I said
Look we're at Blanchetown
Already we're on the way
Here's Waikerie darling
We are half way there
There's Kingston-on-Murray
Where Grandma and Grandpa
Used to live nearly 18 years ago
We're at Cobby already too! (Cobdogla)
Then before he had time to ask
We are at Barmera next to that Bonney Lake
Finally we are passing through
Glossop where that high School is
Then there's the Berri Winery's massive sign
Almost there! I say to him
Look we are in Berri
Finally we are there!
Yay! Says Santiago!
Yay! Says Zecarias!
We are at Berri!
There's Grandma and Grandpa
And Uncle Alec too!

Easter Eggs
All sorts of Easter eggs
So many shapes and shades
Placed every where to catch
That gleam in little children's eyes!
Hot Cross buns in every flavour
Even chocolate ones
For the fussiest of kids!
We had hard boiled eggs in the 60's
Dyed with onion skins
As they boiled away then
Hidden in the surrounds
Where we loved to play
Red onion skins were brightest
Brown onion skins were cool
Flower petals were so pretty
As they dyed them nicely
Ready for us to play
Later on we had sugared eggs
Even creamy centres
Like egg yolks: golden yellow
Even berry flavoured pinks!
Then Easter Bilbys came along
Politically correct they said
As Bunnies were imported
From another land
The mind boggles
As advertising flares
Every where you look
You see:
Easter Bunny has been around!
So many shapes and shades
Placed every where to catch
That gleam in little children's eyes!

No more than we can bear
He promises to keep us safe
As He looks down upon our lives
He promises to love us
No matter our disgrace
He promises to give us
No more that we can bear
Though I know sometimes
It really doesn't seem fair
But when it gets harder
My prayers are there
I have asked for Him to
Take away my pain but
Sometimes I just ask
Him to level up that playing field
So that I am just able to cope
These prayers are my answer
These prayers are my hope!
As He looks down upon our lives
He promises to love us
No matter our disgrace
He promises to give us
No more that we can bear
