Lemon & honey

My throat is sore and dry
I don't really know why!
Maybe I'm getting old
Maybe I'm snoring out loud
Maybe it's too much cheese
I must admit I have to sneeze
Winter is here again
I guess it's time to make 
My hot lemon and honey tea
Ah: that's better for my head
It's 5 a.m. & I'm out of bed
The kettle has boiled at last
My favourite cup is ready for me
I'll make that hot cup of herbal tea
I've added some garlic as well
And what the hell: 
Thin slices of onion too!
It melts away that mucous
It clears my throat & head
Then: finally its back I go to bed!
Thank God for natural home remedies!

Tiny Pink Shoes

Tiny pink shoes with butterflies 
Flowers upon their soles
Soft and pliable: cute
They are pretty yet useful
For my coming grand-daughter's feet
I pray that all continues to go well
I pray that many joys will attend her birth
I am here waiting: ready to tell her story!
I am here: ready to share her joys
I wait to laugh with her: filled with mirth!

A tree dies

A tree dies: it gives itself over
To become the beginning 
Of another's life: kindling for my fire
Providing warmth this winter
For my cold family!
My grandsons are coming
To stay with me for the weekend
They will want to help bring it in
They will look at the flames and 
Say "Hot!"

The joy of life

Ah the joy of life!
The joy of breathing
The fresh country air
The joy of seeing
The light of another day
The joy of tasting
Fresh fruit at breakfast
The joy of hearing
The birds singing
The joy of touching
My fluffy little friend!

Banana cake flop

I made my yummy banana cake
But as I got it out it broke
Does not matter about that
It will still taste good as it goes down
So it may have been a mess
But a very tasty mess: no less!

Dear Lord in heaven I feel so blessed
Because you came to earth
To save me from Satan's evil snare!
So many sinners here are living
So many poor creatures
Living on this sighing earth
Oh Lord I want to help them all
But how can I: a simple soul
Spread your will all over this sad old earth?
My prayers are for everyone
For every man, woman & child
Also for all your beautiful creatures
No matter where they live
No matter where they may give birth
Dear Lord I want to save them all!

A bunch of fherbs

An old friend just visited
He said he'd brought
A bunch of flowers
But inside the bag 
Was a bunch of herbs!
Fresh parsley, basil
A couple of chillies!
I was just about to cook
A healthy dinner!
A huge pot of tomato
And vegetable soup!
I chopped up the fresh herbs
Added them to my big pot
Such a welcome gift!
Yummy fresh vegetables
Delicious fresh herbs
A divine meal to be served!
Fresh crusty bread
The final touch! Yummy!
