Primary school art lessons

I loved doing my art lessons at Primary school
I loved using those Cray-pas we got as were got older
Wax crayons were so boring and uncool: not arty at all
I still remember doing some finger painting
I decided to use my initials to make mine cool
Only trouble was Stephen Schultz had the same idea
Both our initials were SS but I had R in mine
He had an A! When the paint was dry we fought
I thought it was mine: he thought it was his!
Silly little kids we were but memories linger still
With Cray-pas the colours were beautiful
We did drawings first with the Cray-pas
Then covered them with paints: the result
Was wonderful to my child's eye: fantastic!
In grade 6 we did real life drawings
I loved doing those: felt I knew how to do it
Just had the knack: drew Lynnie Charlton
She was a great model: I did her proud
I should have given her that picture as she asked
I really wish I had but I took it home to keep
Folded it in half: it tore and I just tossed it
Silly child that I was: I remember well that silliness!

Divine intuition

Just started reading a book called Divine Intuition
I have been so amazed from the very first page
It has described exactly what I have experienced
Over the past few years as I have grown with God

“I will put my law within them and I will write it upon their hearts”
Jeremiah 31:33

“What is truth? A difficult question, but I have solved it for myself by saying that it is what the voice within tells you.” Mahatma Gandhi

“Intuitive knowledge is an illumination of the soul” Rene Descartes

This has been my exact experience along my path
I have felt like information has been passed
Right into my very thoughts: that quiet voice within
Has been my dearest Lord talking to me
What a wonderful blessing to be able to converse
Without words: simply by opening up my heart & soul
Letting my dear Lord in: being illuminated by Him
As I go along my every day travels I ask for guidance
Yes: I ask and it just comes: sometimes as images
Sometimes as words: like “Start walking now!”
However He speaks I know I hear His voice and
I also know I am never alone to face my trials!

Catch up lunch

Had a catch-up lunch today
One of those quiet lunches you have
Chatting quietly with old friends
You haven't seen for ages
Simply because life gets in the way
You move house; your kids grow up
You have grandchildren too
You're always run off your feet
Trying to keep up with people you meet
Forgetting about old friends you missed along the way

Then suddenly twenty years have passed
You meet up at someone's birthday party
You promise to catch up but again time gets in the way
Well today: we caught up again over a meal
Simply enjoyed the time spent just chatting
Reminiscing; updating, appreciating everything!

Too close for comfort

As a kid I loved driving with my dad
He was my hero: my best ever pal
I remember one day as we were driving
A guy on a motorcycle: passenger & all
Driving way too closely behind us: dangerous!
Dad put on his brakes to let the guy know
And then the problem started: road rage!
He pulled out & passed us: angry looking
Thought my dad was just fooling but
He was just doing his best to drive safely
We were a young family going shopping
There was no malice in my dad's heart
No anger problems: just driving along

I watched with worry in my eyes as that guy
Put on his brakes again & again: silly man
He didn't seem to realise that if we hit
It would be much worse for him & his mate
Silly young man on his little motorbike
Trying to intimidate: trying to compensate
For something he imagined we had done
Silly young driver: get a life: keep your life in fact
We were just out for some family fun!

Hitch-hiker

Ever been in car trouble: couldn't get around?
Had to take the hard road: praying people'd lend a hand?
I was driving along the country road: carrying my load
Saw a hitch-hiker walking up ahead: thoughts of stopping in my head
Hubby said "You're not stopping for them are you?"
I just said "Got to find out if they're okay!"
So I stopped and she turned around: short, short hair
Could've been a guy: 60 year old Haalia: desperate for a ride
Getting ready to walk up Sedan Hill: heading towards Angaston
Had to walk all that way just to pick up her car; no other way!
What a horrible trek to undergo on this hot summer day
Stopped and she got in: thanked me profusely for stopping
Said how embarrassing to be so alone upon the road
Nobody stopping to offer her a ride: all just driving by!
I apologised for my messy car: said she really didn't care
Chatted along the drive : told of my same need long ago
How a father and two young boys had come to my aid back in 1987
I remembered another time when our car had broken down
It was just out of Gawler: extremely hot summer day
The dear lady had not just allowed us to use her phone
She took us to Tanunda: all the way: after calling in at the golf course
Where she was due to meet her friends for some play
So this is how I think of it: what goes around comes around
If I can do anything to help another: I will and it will come back to me
Through another: never ending circle of help goes around
God ensures we are there to help one another in trying times!

Black hole

There is a little place I hide: deep inside
Those things that hurt me years ago: as a child
Those sins & things I cannot bear to know
Inside that deep black hole where no sun shines
They hide away; lost, forgiven: but never forgotten
For in my weakness as an adult: I am ashamed!
I cannot let anyone near: only fear will take me there
They are locked away: never to see light of day
For my mind is at a loss to cope: it says "Nope!"
"Those sins are too painful yet to bear: they sear!"
I am unable to recall those painful times: they bide
Right there: deep inside of my darkest days
Those angry spirits ride; as upon a stormy night
Thunder & lightning strikes: fire & brimstone sighs
Bubbling up from earth's central core: fiery hot
I cannot recall them at will: yet they linger still
Tiny glimpses breach my thoughts: linger still
But most are tucked away from sight & mind
Living there among their kind: in limbo's rind!

Road rage

Life is just so tough: roads are all clogged up
People are stressed to the max: time is short
People get so uptight: so hot under the collar
They just can't seem to help but yell & holler
At each other as they get behind the wheel
"You cut me off you rotten bugger!": what's the matter?
Why are we so mad at each other: so nasty?
Life is getting to us all: do we not recall?
How it feels to be so stressed and all over the place
Isn't this all just part of being in the rat race?
Everyone is having problems: can't we just understand
Life does not always go as planned: it really sucks!
We worry about our families; our jobs; our health
What about thinking about someone else?
They are undergoing the very same stress & strain!
Please let me explain: my mum is ill: I'm upset!
I worry that I won't have her around for too much longer
So in my anger; grief & pain I have complained
I have yelled at others in their cars: thought bad thoughts
Then I have apologised for being so uptight
Please just try to understand my plight: I know it's wrong
To be so negative; so distressed: for surely I am blessed
Where is my faith now that times are tough?
Isn't this where I've had enough: isn't this the time
When I should be so much stronger than before
Trusting in my dearest God & Lord: yes I should!
So I beg again my dearest one: please come
Into this troubled heart of mine: please come to my aid
I ask in faith for more patience & loving grace
For dearest Lord I am all over the place: forlorn
I need you more than ever before: I do indeed
So come dear Lord into this tortured heart
Lift me up & carry me until: my dearest Lord
Until I can stand alone again: but free to see
That everything goes as You have planned
I must settle down & trust again: all will be well
I will get through this time of pain: this hell!
