From Genesis to John

In Genesis: Jesus was the seed of the woman...
In Exodus: Jesus was the Passover lamb...
In Joshua: Jesus was the commander of the army...
In Ruth: Jesus was the Kinsman redeemer...
In Psalms: Jesus was the Good Shepherd...
In Proverbs: Jesus was Wisdom...
In Matthew: Jesus was a King...
In Mark: Jesus was a Servant...
In Luke: Jesus was our Saviour...
In John: Jesus was God...

The alpha and Omega
Beginning and end
Lion of Judah...
One worthy to receive...
Praise and adoration
There is no other book
That shows from the first
Chapter to the last...
The same theme...
The love of God...
Rescuing the lost...

Compassion

Ah the tears do flow
When we deserve condemnation
But instead compassion is shown...

Transparency

Were we all transparent?
What a sight we'd be...
Everything visible to the naked eye
Nothing hidden underneath
Could you actually see?
Our lungs...taking in our breath
Our blood flowing through
Arteries, veins, capillaries...
Heart beating wildly...
Brain thinking thoughts...
Food being digested...
Ending up as nought...
Upon our death
All shrivelled and dried
Could we tell another?
How we'd lived or died...

Drawings from years ago

I once read a piece about artists
They look back at old drawings...
They cringe and want to rip them up
Because they see their weakness
They see only the immaturity...
They see only the lack of ingenuity
From their younger years
Yet if they could only look with wiser eyes
Understand the growth that must proceed
From child into teen into adulthood
If they only could appreciate the processes
Of artistic trial and error, of learning
Isn't life just the same...
We must learn to crawl before we walk
We must learn to babble before we talk
We must test and try and do and fall
Until finally we can see how far we have come
But until then we are embarrassed...
We blush and hide our face in shame...
Upset by the path along which we came...
But there is no need...we, each and every one of us
Had to go through the same learning curve
So do not be ashamed or embarrassed...
Be proud that you have ever grown and progressed

Be thankful for your talents and feel blessed!

The Son

Out in the world
All that is new
Beautiful and pure
To Him who sees...

He trusts
And He loves
All whom He meets
Though He knows...

They hurt
And abuse
The love that He gives
And tear at His heart...

Beaten not destroyed
His beauty still there
The purest of the pure
He who believed...

Shrunken heads

Shrunken heads upon normal torsos
It might sound weird: even more so
For though our heads remained the same
It was the feeling I experienced that came
Upon me one terrible night: after a fight
Though we lay next to each other upon our bed
It was distance that rebounded within my head
Our bodies almost touching as was the norm
Yet our minds so far apart as to create a storm
Was I simply imagining this amazing phenomenon?
No I felt it many a time: but as it came: was gone
Ah the depth of deception as time went on
What was a rare occurrence sadly became the norm
No longer did we talk dear: it was such a shame I fear
We no longer listened; went about our days dear
Pretending to the world that we were fine: were in decline
Behind closed doors: we sang a very different tune
Time flew by so quickly: our love grew ever sickly
Sadly our love diminished: finally it was finished
The distance grew between us like a cancer in the dark
Ah...my love: you were no longer: our life: cold and stark
Yes, it was as if we were two tiny shrunken heads...
Lying upon our pillows...until our love was irreparably dead

He held my hand

He held my hand when no other would
He it was who truly understood...
He saw inside my very heart and soul
He knew what others never could...
He loved me no matter how far I fell
He watched me crawl out from my own hell
He loved me before I was even made good
Yes before He even made me flesh and blood
He sees through this mask I hide behind
He knows me, knows the thoughts within my mind
He gave everything to save me from myself
He took my pain and carried it himself
He took my sins and washed me clean
If you love Him; you will know what I mean
With his bright red blood that blossomed in the sand
He showed me how to appreciate His eternal plan
He died for me: upon that painful cross
For me, my sins, my Father suffered the greatest loss
Then when all was beyond our faith, our imaginings
He rose again: ascended to heaven: King of Kings
But though He left us here without His purest self
He promised to come back to take us home: in stealth
For none know the hour of His second coming: true
Except that every eye shall see Him: yes even me and you!
