Blind spot

There is a blind spot as I drive
I cannot see the other cars beside me
So without fail I have to look around
Before I go about changing lanes!

We humans also have a blind spot
We sometimes cannot see too well
Isn't it amazing how we see
Another's faults and problems
Yet we cannot see our own!

Man's blind spot can be shown in many ways
How we show our love to our family
How we look around us but
Do not understand another's pain
How we sometimes ignore the signs
That are displayed: strongly arrayed
Right in front of our blinded eyes
We need to look inside our very hearts
Seek so deep inside our minds
Ask the Lord to help us please
To find the way to understand
How to look into another's soul
To understand their life: their pain!

Fair exchange

We celebrated Pastor Will's birthday
Everyone was there: happy to say
"Congratulations: enjoy your day!"
A delicious lunch was shared by all
A lovely fruit flan was served after dessert
Sparkler's fizzing out their bright light
How wonderful to be able to relax
All together we shared this special time
We chatted about the special date
7th of November; two more people I know of
Who share that very same birthday!
I'd given Pastor Will a heap of my poems
He'd read quite a few he said: enjoyed them too
Was going to use few for to write his sermons
I felt gratified to know: for my very next thought was clear
I loved his sermons: was looking forward to using some
For my poems: enjoyed their messages you see
They meant a lot to me: just the right messages
Exactly when I needed them: made me feel connected
So beautifully to my Lord: yes those precious words
Touched my very heart when times were tough
Showed me how much my Lord loves me you see
Even though I have been led astray: been lost
Thus I deemed it a fair exchange: his sermons: my poems!
Yes! My poems: his sermons! A blessed exchange!

More from you

I want more from you
I need more from you
I cannot do it all for you
So meet me in the middle
I don't give a fiddle
For your excuse!

Violeta's surprise

The party was planned: everyone was warned
We were ready to celebrate: a beautiful lady's birthday
We were so very, very quiet: hiding out of sight
As Simone brought her home this night
Simone had been the one to keep her there
Doing her make-up, doing her nails: doing her hair!
Finally Violeta was allowed to head for home
Just exactly as she had planned: but to her surprise
To her wide opened eyes: we all shouted out: surprise!

Full moon rising

It's just after 8 pm on a Sunday night
Full moon is rising: what an amazing sight
Full moon: pink sky: stunning sight: draws the eye
More surprises: a car pulls over: maybe two lovers
Drawn to that magnificence up there in that glorious evening sky
Are they there enjoying every sense and every sigh?

She came in through the bathroom window

She came in through the bathroom window
She was such a tiny little thing: but though she seemed so harmless
She was definitely up to no good: she went through all my clothing
Tried on my satin disco flares: split the seams of my favourites
Left them lying in a heap: rifled through all my bedroom drawers
Took anything that didn't look cheap: her accomplice took the Hi-Fi
Music & mayhem on their minds: taking anything that drew their eye
They even took our photo albums: though I really don't know why?
Many months later I got a call from my uncle Tony: said he had a surprise
He came in holding a bundle: loosely wrapped up in a towel
I was so amazed, happy & confused: our photo albums were returned!
Someone had found them at the dump: thought they should be returned
The police had seen the newspaper clippings: at the back of one album
My cousin's wedding was mentioned: another friend from school as well
They traced them back to the Riverland where my uncle worked still
Through his good connections we were found & gladdened further still
By the amazing coincidences that brought us back some faith in life!

Star wars relived

My little grandson is nearly 3
He loves Angry Birds on the iPad
With Star Wars: he knows them all
Yes all the characters are in his vocabulary
He knows about Darth Vader & Darth Maul
Though he calls them Dark Vader & Dark Maul
He knows Luke Skywalker & Yoda
Obiwan & Chewbacca too, R2D2 & C3P0!
The other day he said to me:
"Nana, I have to build a death star!"
I guess it all just sinks into that little brain of his!
I love my little grandson so much: he is such fun!
