Fearless

Little Zac is fearless
He amazes me it's true
Jumping on that bouncy castle
At the Royal Adelaide Show
He climbed right up
He jumped right down
No fear as he played around
Crazy little rascal
I love you!

Karma

Sometimes I wonder how Karma works
Does it include every little thing?
How does it come and speak to you?
Does it scream or maybe just sing?
Tim got caught for speeding a few times
I got really angry and yelled at him
Then not long afterwards they got me too!
Was that my Karma for abusing him?
Would it have been different?
Had I kept my calm: not lost my cool?
Is that how it works out as we go along?
Does Karma come and slap us in the face?
If we lose our temper: get mad and yell?
Is that justice for our angry tirades?
When we should sympathise and act calm
Rather than abuse and rant and rave?
Please tell me true: has this happened to you?

Royal Adelaide Show

We had an adventure at the show today
Took my three grandchildren along
My hubby Tim always loved to go
It brought back magical memories for him
I remember going the very first time
I was a grown up by then you know
My family had never ever been
So today we went to remind me of other days
We went many times over the years with Tim
Still remember when Michael was about three
He loved listening to Beatles songs
The "Fab Four" were singing that day
He just stood there bopping along to the music
Loving every single minute of it
We went again the very next year and
As we walked around he said to me
"Mummy this is where the circus Beatles were
I remember hearing them sing!"
Isn't it just amazing how memories are made?
How moments just stick and remain
Ready to be brought back to life again
By a simple thought or sight or smell
I wonder what memories will come from this day?
Who knows what special thoughts will spring?
When we go back again with Zac and Santiago too
Yes what will my little darlings say?
If  we return the very next spring?

Memories of Clare and Laurie Hopkins

Oh Clare I remember those days of long ago
When we'd visit you at your home
Hughie was just a little baby back then
You were the other Nana or Grannie
My mum and dad were grandparents too
To dear little baby Hugh: Yes we were
One big happy family: living close at hand
We celebrated birthdays and Christmas too
At your lovely home in Kingston-on-Murray
We visited Aunty Betty and Great Nana too
Mrs Drogemuller: Mrs Druggie as she was known
So many happy memories come back to me
I still recall upsetting you one day
We were discussing a song on the radio
"Claire" by Gilbert O'Sullivan: about his daughter
You said you finally found a song written for you
I said yes "but she's younger than you"
You looked offended I am sorry to say
Until I explained that, that Claire was only two!
I remember your dear husband Laurie too
He asked my dad "how come little kids just come to you?"
My dad replied "I don't really know: we just get on; you know!"
I hope there was no real jealousy going on
For everyone loved little Hughie: yes everyone!

Another memory going even farther back
Was of Laurie's little canteen on the road side
In summer when so many people travelled through
There were huge long lines of cars: waiting
Yes waiting for hours: just to cross the ferry
There you had your caravan with cool drinks
Snacks to eat: chips and Slippery Sams
Ah those were the days from long, long ago
That linger in these memories still!

We'll meet again

I was checking out my email folder
Clearing out new ones: some older
Came across a few from Celia Thiel
Rest in peace dear Celia: I miss you
It hit me that I’ll never get any more
No, not one will come: for you are gone
Asleep now in The Lord forever more
Yet I know that when Jesus comes again
When He comes to make all right
Even death will conquered be
It is then that we will see: yes then
When the dead in Christ will rise
Then when you are brought back alive
Then we will meet again in heaven

It is that one thought that strengthens me!

Some people just don't get it

You just don’t get it do you?
How can anyone get through to you?
You think you’re so damn smart
Think you have life down to a fine art
Yet you just don’t seem to understand
How life is all about love: yes it is!
I would have thought you understood
But you are too up yourself to see
You think it all revolves around ye!
Don’t you know that you get more flies?
With sweet honey that with vinegar
Why are you so bloody vulgar?
You treat everyone else with respect
But those closest: those you are supposed
To love! Them you scream at and shove
Threaten them and call them names
Who the hell do you think you are?
Do you still live in the dark ages?
Where women are just a commodity
To be used and then discarded!

Well I’ve had enough of your foul mouth!
I’ve had enough of your bullshit
Had enough of your unfairness
Grow up and learn your lessons fast
Cos this life you lead cannot last
One day she will just up and leave
She’ll wipe the dust from off her feet
Leave you standing open mouthed
In the bloody street: let you be alone
To maybe once: just think on it
Too late mate! You’ve missed the gate!
Then you’ll be all on your own mate!

Spring flowers

Beautiful flowering trees
Gently waving to and fro
Sunshine and buzzing bees
The pleasant weather aglow
Pink and white flowering trees
Petals flying up and down
Birds singing and playing happily
Welcoming the warming days
Spring is here at last: yes it is!
No more wintery blasts we plead
Bring on those balmy summer days
Bring on the happy smiles
For those cold winter days are past
Yes spring is here at last!
