Insecure young man
Defensive from childhood
Your anger: your protection
Your survival mechanism; understood
Putting on your bravado
Like another does a cotton shirt
Thinking to hide behind it
Thinking you will never feel the hurt

Torn apart
Insecurity
From childhood
Parents fighting
Yelling; screaming
Where can I hide?
What can I do?
Where is my safety?
Who can I turn to?
Ashamed of that weakness
Crying in my heart
But what can any child do?
When their family is torn apart...
From childhood
Parents fighting
Yelling; screaming
Where can I hide?
What can I do?
Where is my safety?
Who can I turn to?
Ashamed of that weakness
Crying in my heart
But what can any child do?
When their family is torn apart...
Estranged
He was cast aside by them
Estranged...
Break ups within the family
Never seem to mend...
She left this life years ago
He was never allowed to grieve
They drifted apart so long ago
How could life simply go on?
Without a family to cling to...
Without any familiar ties...
Estranged: distanced by lies
Another's domineering character
Stood between them all
Caused that deep rift
She couldn't stand up to him
Torn between husband and family
She was lost along the way
Turned to stealing their inheritance
Took mother's money to pay
For her addictions: her pain
Had her own battles to fight
He never saw her again...
Couldn't find solace
So much left unsaid
But in reality
There was nothing to be said
He doesn't even know where she lies...
Estranged...
Break ups within the family
Never seem to mend...
She left this life years ago
He was never allowed to grieve
They drifted apart so long ago
How could life simply go on?
Without a family to cling to...
Without any familiar ties...

Automaton
Automated life
Like a robot
This existence
Can become a burden
No emotional connection
No substance
No currency
Emotionally bankrupt
Life lived outside of oneself
An observer
A voyeur of his own life
Looking in from the outside
Lost
Like a robot
This existence
Can become a burden
No emotional connection
No substance
No currency
Emotionally bankrupt
Life lived outside of oneself
An observer
A voyeur of his own life
Looking in from the outside
Lost
Airheads
Airheads
Like helium balloons
Tied to earth by a ribbon
Cut it and let them fly away...
Who are you kidding?
You are lost inside...
Seeing only the superficial
No depth of understanding
No connection in your mind
So unlike the grounded
Like a tree; rooted deep
Into the soil of life
Like helium balloons
Tied to earth by a ribbon
Cut it and let them fly away...
Who are you kidding?
You are lost inside...
Seeing only the superficial
No depth of understanding
No connection in your mind
Like a tree; rooted deep
Into the soil of life
Wings of an angel
Can you see these wings?
Ethereal yet clearly there
Angel's wings that follow
Behind a dear little soul
who cares...
Can you hear these wings?
Gently fluttering yet
frail
Angel's wings that blossom
Leaving a shining,
glittering trail...
Can you feel these wings?
So feathery soft yet truly
strong
Knowing that she hardly
Ever does anything
wrong...
Can you sense these wings?
Moving quickly up and down
Lifting others up with
gladness
As she tries to hide her
own frown...
Can you smell these wings?
Feathered yet sugar sweet
Birdlike and truly
majestic
Lifting her up from her
tired feet...
Can you taste these wings?
Sweet and soft as fairy
floss
Beating out their loving
tattoo
Helping others: at any
cost...
Angel's wings are fleeting
Angel's wings are soft
Angel's wings that
sweetly
Take others high aloft
If I could turn back time
Just looked at my photograph
I was only 15 years of age
So many simple little things
I really wish I could change...
I would tell myself to relax
Let go of fear and pain
But how do we go back?
So that we could; to ourselves: explain?
What happened to you?
Wasn't your fault
You were not to blame...
It was another; stole your peace a way
Made you feel less that beautiful
Made you feel less than whole...
If I could turn back time
Take a trip down memory lane
Tell myself I was beautiful
Tell myself to be patient
Tell myself to simply: wait
All good things will finally come
Yes: one bright sunny day...
You will look back and see
That everything was worth it
Yes indeed: you will see...
If I could turn back time
Melt those sad tears away
I would show myself this future
That was worth all of the early pain
I would make my self promise
To fly above all that silly stuff
Looking down upon my sadness
Like it was all huff'n'fluff...
Beautiful teenager: beautiful girl
You will finally see the rainbow
And at the end; that pot of gold
Yes; precious baby girl
You will finally see a better world
Love will be a blessing
It will come to you...
Yes; precious little girl
You will finally get to be the pearl...
