Hot summer days without end
Sweltering in the heat
Mr Harrington devised
A lovely air-conditioner
A hose from the rain water tank
Held on top of a stack of empty trays
With great big bricks!
All the cousins came one day
Around Christmas time
To help out so we could all
Have an early knock-off time
Too hot to swelter in that heat!
One young cousin
Was not happy; having to take out
All those annoying pips
We all laughed because
We all knew they were
Called apricot stones not pips
Back in the 1960's!
