Caught a cold the other week
Found it difficult just to speak
Used all those home remedies
Yes those onion and garlic teas
Add lemon and honey if you please
Helped to quiet that awful wheeze
Though it seemed to settle the beast
Still it continued on: no ease!
Burned that lovely eucalyptus oil
Might as well just put the kettle on to boil
Tried so many things you know
Just goes to really show
No matter what you say and do
Somehow those germs will get to you
Well the poultices did their job
Made my throat and chest throb
Finally that mucous came on out
Such a lovely shade of yellow no doubt
The doctor said antibiotics might help
If it was not a virus there-in that slept
I took them and it eased just a bit
Those antibiotics were a smashing hit!
Though this flu has sapped my strength
Finally I am regaining sanity: at length!
Yes I can see a light there finally
All this coughing is a scourge believe me!
