A shrieking good time

Never follow a snake too close
Or step on its little tail
‘Cause it can spin around so fast
And scare you enough to wail
We found a deadly snake one day
Close by our little home
Our two little girls were playing
Outside on the other side
My hubby said “just follow it
Don’t let it out of sight
I’ll run and get the shovel
We’ll get that scary snake!”
So follow it I did
Not too close to make it mad
Just close enough to keep an eye
On its destination route
You should have heard me scream
Whenever I got too close
It reared its little head at me
And hissed and made me bolt
I did my best to brave it out
My dear girls’ lives at stake
Should that little serpent
Take a little bite of them
Then my dear ones in danger were
No mistake!
It made me scream a few times
As I kept my vigil there
Boy was I as scared of it
As it was of me and my close steps
But I kept as close as I could
And followed it around
As it went behind our car
In our little old garage
Finally I heard my hubby come
To my rescue he arrived
That shovel was his weapon
The snake was doomed to die
The adrenalin was surging
As I retreated a few steps
Our girls were save at last
Unaware as they were!
The danger past!
