Pocahontas

I love to read stories about Native Americans 
Real stories about real people!
The way they lived and kept their land alive
Using everything that was available
Never wasting a thing!
I feel sad to read of their history
The loss of life because of all the wars
I imagine how beautiful the land was
Before white man came
Before it was taken and sold 
Destroyed by greedy men
I imagine the lush growth of vegetation
The rivers full of fish 
The forests full of wildlife!
The story of Pocahontas is so sad
To have to fight against your own 
To give the others a fair go
The sadness of her loss
That she left her country
That she died in England
So far away from those beautiful shores!
