Tricked

As a child I was quite naive
I must admit: more than just a bit!
I believed anything people would tell me!
So one day after school I stopped off
To pay a call but my friends weren't home
Just their older cousin! (Christine)
I stopped for a chat after that and
Accepted when she offered refreshment
"Here take one of these; they're really nice!"
She said with quiet ease
So I watched as she ate that fresh olive!
I took one as well but It was awful as hell
I bit into that raw flesh; oil filled my mouth
Straight from that tree branch: so yucky!
Then she laughed right out loud and
Spat out that uneaten raw olive!
I guess the laugh was on me
For I ate from that tree but
Never again have I eaten olives!
