Little drummer girl

In primary school we had two drums; base and kettle;
Played to make the kids march into their rooms; settle
We'd all line up and get into place; those drums set the pace
We all marched in time; like soldiers in a line!
I always wanted to get to play them; ached to be chosen!
Watched and envied the others; bigger than me
Just couldn't wait; wanted to set the pace; even if just once!
Finally I got the chance; loved the feel of those drum sticks
In my hands they seemed alive; like magic tingling up my arms
Through my nerves; up into my brain; such joy was mine
How I loved that little time when it was me to beat that drum
And watch all my friends moving in line; through time!

Ode to Sir Paul McCartney

Sir Paul McCartney; musician; poet; lyricist!
Famous left-handed bass player
(Never knew this till I watched Millionaire Hot Seat)
You have been in my life for many a long year
Often made me smile; sometimes brought a tear
To my eye; with your words; your melodies
Even watched you as a kid; Beatles music: loved you all!
Loved you through thick and thin!
You were always my favourite one
The cutest smile; the best looker; that's for sure!
But it's for your your words and music
That I loved you best and longest!
You've touched my heart with your love songs
You are a legend in my eyes
You have serenaded the whole wide world
With your precious words and songs
How could anyone explain your gift
As anything but God-given!
You have been truly blessed!
So sorry to hear of your loss
Dear Linda; your companion; now asleep in God
Never should have married the second one
But loneliness is ever a painful state
Hope you're happy now at long last
Nancy looks to have retrieved your smile
It was gone for quite a while
Sir Paul the world looks on
As you go about your life
What a wonderful message
Your songs have brought
Love is the greatest gift of all!

Ode to Paul Simon

Listened to your lyrics in the car
Heard your words of deep despair
How is it possible that you could be
Lost for words that rhyme; like me
And yet I understand your plight
Everyone of us is guided by the light
I know sometimes the light seems dim
That's when I really must turn to Him
So many times I've been so low
Didn't know which way to turn or go
We must all be thankful for what we've got
So many blessings we've been given
Every breath we take is such a blessing
I see how much you've been blessed
I hear your words; feel your pain
As I listen to your soul's refrain
If you don't have downs
How can you appreciate the ups
Love your many songs and repartees
You bring such joy to my heart
Through these ears I hear your plea
My heart and soul awake to hear
Your innermost feelings therein; set free

I send my loving thoughts to thee
I thank you for your many words
Of joy and pain released
I long to hear them all again
Though never will I ever be compared to thee

Unconditional Love

I love you!
No matter what you've said in times of trouble!
I love you!
No matter why you've done stuff when you're stressed!
I love you!
No matter where you've been!
I love you!
No matter how far you feel you've fallen!
I love you because Jesus loves me!
No matter where I've wandered!
Jesus loves me!
No matter what I've said or done!
Jesus loves me!
No matter why I've done things!
Jesus loves us! Unconditionally!
