In the blink of an eye

I heard the news on the radio
Oh dear Lord I just did not know
How lives can be cut short so fast
Yes they’re gone in a fiery blast
Two wonderful people gone to God
It seems so unfair: but what is not?
They’d seen their family so far away
Travelling back along the Eyre Highway
Why they had to go I do not understand
But I know all things go as You have planned
Dear Lord we can barely even comprehend
How their beautiful lives can simply end
Sadness reigns within our shattered hearts
As we try to make sense of how life departs

Rest in peace Celia and Peter Thiel

Truro murders 1970's

Just researched the Truro murders from the 1970's
Committed by Christopher Robin Worrell
And James William Miller: evil men!
Visited my friend just the other day
We were chatting about our lives back then
Yes I was living in Adelaide in the late 1970's
Catching buses and trains in my fair city
Going to Adelaide University: doing my Arts course
Thank God I never got to meet these evil men
Bianca said she'd been waiting at the bus stop
Always standing away: back from the street
Those two had pulled up to offer her a lift
She was too far away to be pulled in
Saved her life as far as I am concerned
Saved by coincidence: saved by fate
Saved from being raped and murdered
Saved from a supposedly friendly, good looking young man
How do we know what it is that approaches us?
In the guise of friendship: in the guise of peace?
God's angels taking care of us: keeping us safe
I am so sorry for those other poor young girls
Taken to the countryside: raped and murdered! Why?
Just because some evil bastard wants some kicks?
Just because his mate doesn't care to interfere!
Thank God he died in a car accident!
Thank god the murders stopped: only what a shame that
That evil young man didn't die sooner!
What a shame that he got away with it for so long!

Berri circa 1980

I remember driving to Berri with my mum
Going shopping at Coombes Foodland
They had a bottle shop right next door
Hughie's other grandma Claire worked there
Isn't it amazing how memories coming flying back
As you're driving down some old winding track
Memories of Hughie as a tiny baby
Visiting him at his great grandma's place
Mrs Drogemuller and great Aunty Betty
Bodie the dog and the old grey whippet
I think I remember Poppa too: thin and tired
Sitting in his chair: what a blessing to remember
Times past that settle into your memories
Only to be brought back as you travel along
Life's busy highways: life's long and winding roads
Yes memories are just so amazing!
Thank you Lord for making us so beautifully!

Pollyanna's wisdom

If you keep looking for the bad in people?
You will inexorably find it won't you?
So why not look for good instead?
Seek to find the better things that life brings!
Will you find that too? Of course you say!
So why go about in abject misery
Knowing you will be brought undone
Why not seek to edify: to up-lift us all?
Seek to find the good in all: there must be
Some small good in us all: even if it's very small?
Then once you find that little glimmer
Can't you not just forgive the sinner?
We are sinners all: yes each and every one!
So search for goodness: search for love
Under these beautiful heavens up above
I'd much rather seek out the good heart
Much rather find sweetness under the sun
Much rather find something worth finding
Something worth praising than hating
Yes: look for kindness: find some hope
Enjoy the beauty that is found: love the sounds
Listen to people's laughter: hear their joy
Bring a little light to all you meet in the street
Wear a smile upon your dial: give it a trial!
Show God's love and understanding
Show God's mercy to all: know it comes back
When it is your turn to feel the whip
Keep a civil tongue within your lips
For if you forgive another remember God forgives too
Even when we least deserve it: yes it's true
Then the dear Lord will happily forgive you too!

Hitchhiker Pete

Picked up a hitch hiker just the other day
Thought to do a good deed for my fellow man
He was young, about 20 years old I suppose
Heading out of the fair city of Adelaide
Stopped my car and wound my window down
My dog Amy was sitting upon the passenger seat
Asked him where he was going: did he need a lift?
Yes: he was heading north along Port Wakefield Road
I said I'm only going as far as the turn-off
Then towards the Barossa Valley and the Riverland
He was heading up Port Augusta way: not the same
So I took him up the road just a ways and set him down
We spoke of God and he said he knew of Him
Gave me a lecture about embracing the darkness
About understanding how everything truly works
He said that the darkest days bring lessons too
Not just the light that from Jesus shines: that's true!
"I know mate I said: I have been down there too!"
He just kept on telling me about lessons to be learned
I nodded my head and agreed a lot: yes I said I knew!
Isn't it amazing how the dear Lord works?
Showing us over and over by the one's He touches
By the messages that come from out of the blue
He shows us He cares about me and you
Bringing light to all the corners of the globe
All you have to do is start the ball rolling
Ask a few questions: answer a few too!

Foggy patches

Driving to Adelaide with my mum
Heading for the Royal Adelaide Hospital
It's her monthly check up chum
Yes: seeing the specialist at the Hospital
Got up at such an ungodly hour
It was so cold and so quiet and still
Heading for the big city: no detour!
Had to dress well so as not to catch a chill!!
Got through the first little towns all right!
Glossop was empty as yet: Barmera too!
The sun was rising slowly up to its height
Warming up that cold icy air: heater on too!
We got to Waikerie and saw up ahead of us
Could've been smoke hanging in the air
Had me worried: we'd seen bush fires: what a fuss?
It was a massive low lying cloud of fog hanging there!
Lights blazing we drove through that darkened mist
Kept on going heading along that bitumen road
Wondering if it would go on through the hills: get my gist?
Praying for sunshine as we drove Highway 20's road!

Long drive

Going on a long drive
In the countryside
Checking out all the scenery
Admiring all the greenery
Driving to visit my poor mum
Have to take her to see her doc
We'll be driving there and back
Keeping safe along the track
Three hours one way
Another three back
But it will be a pleasure
Driving in the glorious sun
Heavy traffic: but we'll just come
Out the other end a little tired
Praying for our safety in God's hands
Allowing for his protection each way
I give every little thing into His dear hands
I surrender up to Him all my plans
Right down to the weather
Right up to His blessed heart
I say a little prayer before I start
Yes In him do I lay my trust!
Every single day it is a must!

Duck crossing

Driving along the city roads
Close to the set of traffic lights
I saw two ducks making their crossing
A tiny duckling between the two
So I slowed right down to keep them safe
Hoping no cars would crash into me
Those two ducks saw me coming
They tried to hurry their charge along
Knowing full well they were in danger
As long as they were crossing along
Smart birds they were using the lights
To get to safety on the other side
Thank God it all worked out safely
Thank God for people slowing down
For that sweet little family made it
Yes they got to where they were going
Good luck was on their side!

Sabbath blessings

Sitting at the beach today
In my car: I'm staring out
I hear the waves tumbling: yay!
It is beautiful with the sun shining out
Crashing waves pounding the sands
Pleasant music...good brain waves
It's so relaxing: refreshing too!
The perfect afternoon to be about
Enjoying God's blessed day: shout!
Thank you Lord for this Sabbath day
May your joy and peace be shared about
Sunshine, fresh air, prayer and exercise
Good company, good food, good thoughts
All to be given all to be shared
Just as our dear Lord has declared
Happy Sabbath day to one and all
May the dear Lord bless us!
Yes: everyone!

Can you hear what I hear

Can you hear what I hear?
Can you see what I see?
Are you ready for transformation?
Are you ready to meet Him in the air?
Our blessed Lord is coming!
Our dearest Saviour is coming soon!
Please be ready to meet our maker
Please be ready to raise up a loud cheer
For everything will change as he nears
Everything will be changed when He comes
Even death will conquered be: yes He rules
He is everything that we are not:
He is the blessed lamb of peace!

Walking with angels

I'm walking with the angels every single day
I look around at this sad world: see no better way
Take on the faith of Jesus: bear His blessed peace
For time is running out for us all: hear me please!
How much longer will He wait for us: do you know?
Time is of the essence now: the end of this world
Is coming at a fast pace: will you be left behind?
Will you cry out in anger and in shame: I am lost!
Because you missed the return of the bridegroom
Will you be sad: left to mourn your days alone?
He comes in the clouds crowned in glory
He comes with all the heavenly angelic host
Are you ready to be taken up into His heavens?
Are you prepared to meet your maker?
Are you ready to give up the ghost?
The end of days is nearing: listen to the loud cry
Jesus is coming to change all to glory
Please come and be among the saved!

The Searchers

So many people wandering around
This lonely world of ours: blow it!
Searching: do they even know it?
Have they any idea what it is they seek?
They are lost in translation: lost at sea
Unhappy about their lives: they show it
By wandering back and forth every week
It's such a shame they will not listen
It's such a shame they do not hear
They are so caught up in this crazy world
They are so involved in this simple mentality
No idea what goes on around them
No idea of how important it is right now
To make a choice: to make a decision
To choose a God-filled life over derision
Oh why are they so blind to this reality?

It's alright

Everything seemed to be alright
Watching the second episode tonight
Then as Claire began to sob and cry
Those tears were pouring from my eyes
I didn't even know it was happening
It was as if I was maybe dreaming
Sadness came and took hold of me
Made those tears come pouring down
Sadness for Claire as she struggled
Sadness for me as I have been lost too
Suddenly I was crying for Claire
Suddenly I was crying for me too!
Thought I was okay for all that day
Thought I was being strong all along
Suddenly I'm crying: there's no denying
The sadness that overcame me so
Was such a terrible blow: yeah I know
It's alright to cry: it's alright!
So I just cried and cried tonight
Tears pouring from my eyes
Lost control of my emotions tonight
It's alright I tell my self: it's alright
You're allowed to cry if you want
You're allowed to cry if you need
You're allowed to cry out those tears
You're allowed to let it all slip out
Nothing to be ashamed of: it's alright!
It's alright: you can cry: it's alright!

The play house

So much fun to be had at the playhouse
Climbing up and down those padded steps
Colourful balls to be tossed around
Heaps of things to see and do for all
Evaleah and Zac went there today
To have a little bit of fun and games
Zac had a ball running up and down
Whilst Evaleah crawled everywhere
She even took a few steps just for fun
Yes she did: took a chance and stood
There she was for several minutes
Balancing: a huge smile upon her face
Ah the joy we had just watching
Yes mummy and I were so happy
To see those joyful faces: to hear those squeals
What a time was had by all: at the playhouse!

The simplest things

I love to watch the simplest things
Like the setting sun that evening brings
I love to wander along the beach
Feeling warm sand beneath my feet
So many simple things do bring
Such pleasant feelings to the fore
Like hearing the crashing waves
Breaking upon the storm tossed shore
There is both beauty and magnificence
In seeing the simplest little things
That is where my heart takes wing
As I wander each and every day
Longing to find that special companionship
With my dearest Lord at work and at play!

Tumbled down again

Took a little tumble again
Just the other day: yes again!
Zac fell and took me with him
Yes I fell down in the street
Well the road was a little bit wet
So it looked as if I'd wet myself
Just recently I'd said to myself
"You have to laugh at what life throws at you"
"You have to learn to laugh out loud!"
Well I guess I did that yesterday
I guess it came unexpectedly
I guess it came right out of the blue
But none the less it got me laughing
What more could anyone do?
I just imagined how silly i looked
Wet patches all over my jeans
Luckily no seams were tested
No rips or tears upon my poor old knees
But if I looked around those faces
Surely a few would have smiled
And maybe even commiserated
Remembering other similar times!

I need a lover who won't drive me crazy

I need a lover who won't drive me crazy
I need someone who wants to hold my hand
I need a lover who isn't bone idle lazy
I need someone who truly understands

We all need to find that simple someone
Where acceptance reigns: not blues
We all need to find the one who loves us
We all need to be shown how much 'tis true

I need a lover who won't drive me crazy
I need someone who accepts me as I am
I need a lover who is quite able: to survive
Without being in my pocket all the time!

We all need to find love and acceptance
Where everyone can live just as planned
We all need Jesus' love and forgiveness
We all need to follow after our purest lamb

Can you see the danger?

Look around you: see the signs
Warnings flashing: hear the sounds
Don't you know the time is coming?
Can you not understand God's plan?
The warning signs are everywhere
The earth groans, sighs: wars abound
People dying for no good reason
Every single blessed day we hunger
Yes every blessed day we wander
Seeking to understand that which is at hand
Have you seen the heavens tumbling?
Witnessed meteors: showering upon mankind
Do you know what is coming?
Do you know what is prophesied?
Please heed the constant warning signs!
The beacon on the hill
The lighthouse on the shore
Don't you know their warnings?
Don't you know what they are there for?
The sirens wailing: flashing lights
Telling us to move aside: let them through
They come to offer aid: to save the few
Please look around and take heed
Please open up your blinded eyes
Please hear these urgent warnings
Please look up to the brilliant skies
For I give you fair warning: Jesus comes!

Skeleton in the closet

He has always been afraid of skeletons
Always had them chasing him in dreams
Told me of his worst nightmares: skeletons
Trying to kill him: trying to get him
Yes skeletons every where: scaring him!
That explains a great deal you see
Well just between you and me: it is thus
Skeletons were always hiding in the closet
Hiding underneath the bed: in his head
They were lying in wait: ready to jump out
Ready to scare the crap out of him
Ready to make him run and shout!
Even at school they were waiting
Yes they were hiding in the loo
Waiting to get him in there too!
So he would rather pee outside
Yes anywhere at all: because they were
Always waiting to get him: to eat him
And he was just too little to fight back
Too little to win the battle: too little to fight
So he had to escape their clutches
Had to evade those clutching fingers
Yes even today: memories
Of those awful nightmares still linger!

Battling Ninja turtles

Zecarias loves to do battle

With all those evil dudes
He protects the weak: yes he does
He tells me to "stand back!"
"I'll take care of this!" he says
He is my super hero
He is my best battle guy
As he goes about his fun filled days
Full of zest and ardour
Yes he just wants to be so brave!

So he's battling with ninja turtles
He's fighting with Iron man
He's sometimes even the caped crusader
Alias Batman! Yes or even Spider man!
He's got a Superman T shirt
He reckons it's the very best
For in it he is a super hero
For him there is no contest!

Soothing Music

Just watched a bit of music on the telly
Relaxing music to ease out of the day
A little bit of sunshine for my brain
Soothing music to help relax again
They say music soothes the savage breast
So let it relax you; let it ease your stress
Yes; let go of any; of all unpleasantness
Allow music in: let it work: be refreshed!

Give me sunshine

Give me sunshine not rain
Give me happiness not pain
Let me see your face again
Let me grow in love and remain
Give me a lift when I am lost
Give me help without any cost
Let me aid another who is lost
Let me be someone who hosts
The power of Jesus within my heart
The power of His love to impart
Let the Holy Spirit be my guide
Let me sit right by your side

Operations

My brother had his second op
Just yesterday on his cataracts
Santiago is due tomorrow
To have his tonsils out
They're taking his adenoids
Putting grommets in his ears
So much happening around here!
My mum lost her right eye a few years ago
Just goes to show you it goes on
Whether you are ready or not
I had my tonsils out in 1962
I was just 5 years old: a little kid
I got to eat ice cream and jelly
It was pretty good for me!
Kept me in for a few days then
Now they take you in and spit you out
Within a day and a night
You have to go home again
Because it all costs too much
So now it's like a production line
You wait your turn and off you go
Home to be cared for by your family
No loneliness left in a huge ward
Family around unlike way back then
Now you are just a number
On that operating list
They line you with dark marker
To make sure they get it right
Heaven forbid they do stuff up
That just wouldn't be right!

Sukiyaki

Downloaded an old song from iTunes
Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto
From the 1960's when I was a kid
I found it a couple of years ago
On a CD at the local library
I fell in live with it all over again
Just like all those years ago: I did!
Such a beautiful song in Japanese
I looked up all the words so I could sing
Along with the original singer
Such a shame that he died in a plane crash
Way back in 1985...another good life
Cut short: way too soon!

Walking on sunshine

She's walking on sunshine
She's our precious little girl
Everything is so wonderful
Because she's in our world
She's walking on sunshine
She's bringing so much joy
Oh to be around every day
As she conquers her new world!

Ode to Robin williams

I just heard the news today
I just can't believe it's true
What more can I really say?
Robin, what happened to you?
You've been a part of our lives
For many a long, long year
Making us laugh; bringing joy
Grinning from ear to ear!
Watched you in "Mork and Mindy"
You grew before our eyes
Your precious laughter televised
Changed our lives for the good
Let that be surely understood!
You voice overs were a pleasure
Loved to hear your gorgeous voice
So full of life and laughter
Always wanted to hear you speak
Watched a precious interaction
Just recently: with Koko the gorilla
Brought a few tears to my eyes
How wonderful to see you there
Enjoying her fun: seeing your surprise
But mostly I remember your character
Your fun loving joy of life
I know there was also sadness and strife
I guess we all must remember
That life goes on and on
You'll always be right here
In my precious memories!
Rest in peace and thank you
for being such a pleasant part
Of all our simple earthly lives!

Just before the dawn

Life goes on around us
It’s like no-one has ever gone
We live, we love and we focus
Sometimes we are left all alone

Life can be such a struggle
Just trying and get through the night
When surrounded by our demons
Stranded; bereft without the light

Don't you know we need to focus?
On our Lord: The Infinite Unknown
Don't you know it's darkest?
Just before the dawn

Like those gathering storm clouds
Just like our silly fears: our doubts
Will we be left alone: forsworn?
If we do not take hold of the light?

How do we make the most of this life?
When there is no light is shining in?
How do we get on with living?
When everyone wants to just give in?

Don't you know we all need to focus?
On our Lord: The Infinite Unknown
Don't you know it's darkest?
Just before the dawn

The stars come out in glory
Yes: every blessed night
Have you heard Jesus’ story?
Of His precious love, His might

What holds the most comfort?
Who understands your plight?
Dear Jesus holds that title
Dear Jesus is the light!

Don't you know we all need to focus?
On our Lord: The Infinite Unknown
Don't you know it's darkest?
Just before the dawn
Don't you know we all need to focus?
On our Lord: The Infinite Unknown
Don't you know it's darkest?
Just before the dawn

Hold me close

Missing your hugs
Missing your smile
Missing just being with you
Missing just feeling alive
Missing the fresh air
Missing seeing you in your chair
Missing so many simple things
Missing the joy you used to bring
Just by holding me close!

I need you now

In dark of night I have to fight
Sleep eludes my troubled mind
I am wide awake; it's after 4 a.m.
Feeling lost and so alone am I
Though the angels are with me
These thoughts just will not let me be
So I toss and turn: clock watching
See the time passing slowly by
Still wide awake and wondering why?
I realise what troubles me my love
It is this yearning within my soul
How I long for something more
This loneliness hurts and I am sore
My heart aches for your love
My soul longs to take flight
Yes my dearest Lord I long for you
I need you right now to comfort me
I need you right now to be with me
I need you right now to ease my mind
I need you right now to love me more!

Episode One: Outlander

We won some tickets to watch the premiere
Flew to Melbourne just to be there: oh yeah!
The picture theatre was full of Outlander fans you see
People who love Diana's books: just like you and me!
We watched enthralled as Claire met her dear Jamie
Whistled at the action: loved the Scottish scenery!
It was everything that we had imagined: it was good
Just like the fantastic books: let that be understood!
The cast were so fantastic: chosen so realistically!
Diana: we love you! You've made some amazing history!

Giant wombat possums

Imagine the problems if we had
Giant wombat possums wandering
All around the Australian countryside
Climbing trees and breaking them
Inside our roof: underneath the eaves
Chewing up everything in the neighbourhood
Eating up all our trees: yes all the leaves
What a mess we'd have: that's understood
All our trees gone: homes destroyed
Thank God it's just my imagination running wild!

Fireworks in the city

We were going to watch the fireworks
After another hot Australia Day
So many people gathered together
Anticipating the upcoming display
As we made a path through the crowd
Following each other: hand in hand
The press of bodies was truly amazing
Everyone of us ready for the show
I remember my anticipation for another thing
I remember feeling envious of  Louise
She was heavily pregnant with her fist baby
Yes her heavily pregnant bump on display!

Ode to Isaac Watts

Heard a little story just the other day
About a rebellious youth: upon my word
He lived a long time ago I must say
Wrote so many hymns unto the Lord
Isaac Watts was this young man's name
From old England born: back in 1674
He didn't like the hymns from that day
Thought to be rebellious: come what may
Was tossed out: excluded by his family
Wandered all over Europe to find his place
Writing songs to our dear Lord's grace
Though rejected time and time again
He found the truth: wrote of God's love
Finally his own father demanded that he prove
His prowess: his amazing saving grace
His hymns so beautiful: so precious too
Showed his family what God's love can do
They chose to accept his precious songs
Allowed him to write so many more each week
Finally understanding: God he truly did seek!

Praying for salvation

Though she didn't know anyone in town
From the local phone book chose their names
Thought to pray for salvation without a frown
She did make her choice: strangers came
15 names was all it took to begin
Praying for their blessed salvation
Praying to save them from their sin
Blessed love from above: no condemnation
Down on her knees every single day
Down on her knees every blessed night
Thought it no problem a claim to lay
Praying for these strangers to see the light
Though she couldn't see their face
Prayed for their salvation: Jesus' saving grace!

Eleven of the fifteen later gave their souls to the Lord
For they felt the power of His blessed words
Though we may only wonder: feel unsure
His words are power: His love is pure!

Down on my knees

I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you "Please"
Forgive my sins I plead
Dear Lord you're all I need
You have given all you had
Saved our souls: I am so glad
That you had so decided
To come to earth: heaven guided
Angels told of your coming
Singing songs: harps strumming
Dear Lord I feel so blessed
That you should save me: I must confess!

Like water off a duck's back

Like water off a duck's back
Those hurtful words do slide
I understand you're hurt: your lack
I see beneath your frown: see inside

Sabbath school songs

I heard the little children and their mums
Singing special songs in Sabbath School
It brought back so many wonderful memories
Of when Vanessa and Shelley were little
Kaylene and Krystle too with Lizy and me
Of times when we were in these mum's shoes
Singing about Noah building the ark
Chopping the wood and stripping the bark!
Ah those memories came flooding in
I sang along to the song: remembering!

Kia and Monika

We hadn't seen Kia and Monika
For well over fifteen long years
We'd all changed quite a bit
Grown up: matured: cried a few tears!
But still it was like it was only yesterday
That we'd last talked about our lives
Got together and reminisced
Even cried a few long held in tears
The time just melted away like ice cubes
Sitting warming in the summer sun
Time seemed to speed up and race away
Just like all our silly irrational fears
Had such a wonderful time catching up
Had such a beautiful day my dearest Lord
Thank you for letting it all work out
Thank you for keeping us all safe
Thank you for settling us and our silly fears
Thank you Lord for dear friends even after so many years!

Taxi vs. rental

I wanted to make sure we would have fun
That's why I decided to take the taxi run
Too much trouble to go to for a rental car
So many miles to travel: for me: way too far!
I thought of all the problems you see
Of travelling first by airplane then by taxi
That 4 am awakening would surely make me tired
Then the worry of the driving in a strange big city
All these things would have me feeling too wired!
The insurance, fuel costs, simply staying awake
For all those long, long hours: everything was
Taken into account: listed in my troubled mind
What about parking? What about stress?
In the end I decided I knew best: I must confess
It was just so much easier to bear if I left it
All in dear God's hands and let the Taxi driver drive!

Outlander Premiere in Melbourne

Our trip to Melbourne was amazing
To say the very least: we flew in Friday
Spent the day shopping at Harbour Town
Ate at a classy restaurant in Docklands
Checked out the city sights too as we
Travelled back and forth that day
All over the city of Melbourne in our taxi!
The premiere of Outlander was great!
It was held in Richmond at the cinemas
We were just a few among the many fans
Who came from all over the state to see
How Claire met Jamie in the highlands
We've all been waiting for so very long!
We got to sit up the back all on our own
A private little peaceful space we found
Just for the four of us: for our little family
For Vanessa, Shelley, Evaleah and me!

Dancing to the music

I love to watch my precious grand children
Dancing to the beat: that precious inner beat
That need to groove to music: that graceful swing
Those little limbs moving to the music within
They look so cute: so gorgeous as they grin
Yes as they feel so happy and full of life
Never having to even think of any strife
That precious blessing only the joy of life can bring!

The pink dress

When my girls were little
I made them pretty dresses
I scoured the local op shops
To find brides maid dresses
I'd cut them down to size
Sew them up for my little girls
So they could be my princesses
I bought a pretty pink dress one day
I was going to chop it up and resew it
When our neighbours came around
Joy took care of Margaret, Daniel and Amanda
They played with my two girls after school
Amanda fell in love with the pink dress
So I gave it to her to take home!

Many years later Joy told me a story
About dear Amanda and that dress
Though it didn't fit her: though it was too small
She loved that pretty pink dress so much
She often looked at it hanging there
Imagining, dreaming about how it would look
If she were a real princess: if she only could
Wear it and feel just like a real princess
That's what was going on in her head
Yes she could dream a better life
Than what those poor children had!

Ingenue

I remember as a teen at home
My parents bought some insurance
As a gift they offered a magazine
Subscription for my mum and me
I received "Ingénue" for teenagers
Can't recall what mum received
It introduced me to girly things
Though I guess it wasn't the real me
It showed me about what I maybe
Should have been: for as a teen I was
A Tomboy: climbing up the trees
Getting into dirt up to my knees
I guess I could dream a little bit
Even then I felt like I just didn't fit!

5 Months

As I lie here dozing in my nice warm bed
Grappling with these thoughts within my head
I am thinking of our lives together: as I said
Going over the pain: tears must still be shed

I could be a martyr to these depressing thoughts
But what is the use of succumbing to the negative?
I am my own worst enemy on days like this: caught!
I must get up and tackle life head on: it is imperative!

So I feel a little sadness: remembering our days
Can’t let these silly stupid things get in the way
Think positive: think good thoughts: don’t delay
Get up and live my life: love my kids: they make my day!

Sunday 3 August 2014

I can't take it

I can't take any anger
I can't bear to even hear
A man losing his temper
It is just too much to bear!
I've listened to that for: like forever
It has hurt me more than I can say
I keep thinking dear Lord
Is there not a better way?
Is it because I'm just a woman?
Is it because I have been hurt?
Is it because we are the softer ones?
Is it just because I am a "skirt"?
I feel like I just want to flee
I feel so lost at sea
Want to escape all the anger
Want to run away from any danger
Need to find some peace and safety
Somewhere it is safe for you and me!

The trip home

The trip home is always better
You need to get away but later
You just want to get on home
To see your family, to hug your kids
It's nice to escape even for a day
Then it's even better to return home
To familiar places, familiar climes
Oh to be back home in your own bed
With your own soft sheets, own pillow
Ah yes to escape is good for a time
But coming home is the absolute best!

Thank you Lord for answering our prayers

Thank you Lord for answering our  prayers
For keeping us safe travelling up in the air
Thank you lord for keeping us all dry that day
As we walked around the Harbour Town shops
Thank you lord for providing that much needed pram
As we walked all over the place carrying our baby: in a jam
Thank you lord for sending that lovely man
For providing a reliable taxi service all day long
Thank you Lord for allowing me and my girls
To have such a wonderful time together over there
Thank you Lord for sending dear Pamela as well
To take us to the airport with all our bags: so swell
Thank you lord for bringing Kia and Monika there
To meet us as we were finally heading home
Thank you lord for everything you do for us all
As we go about our lives each and every blessed day!

The taxi driver

After our first unhappy encounter
At the airport taxi ranks
We ordered another taxi cab
To take us to the city for some fun
The second man was so lovely
He gave us his business card
Told us to call that number
When ever we wanted to go out
He said his name was Abidin
He was such a lovely man
Made us feel so very welcome
Made us feel so relaxed
Told us to he had some nice young men
In his employ: happy to have us along
No trouble at all!
So we called that number
Several times that day and let his driver
Take us out whenever we wanted to play
Took us shopping at Harbour town
Drove us back to our motel again
He was happy to drive us any where
Yes happy to take us any where at all!
We went to our movie premiere at Richmond
We enjoyed seeing Jamie and Claire
Up there on the big screen
Then he picked us up and drove us back again
Thank you for making our stay in Melbourne
So very relaxed and wonderful!
