My dearest Santiago

As we sit around the table
Talking and laughing
I see the joy of life in your eyes
As we make our cakes together
I watch you change and grow
I see so much of your mother in you
You are my life; you are my life

As we run outside and have our fun
Climbing and laughing
I see the joy of fun in your eyes
As we make our pretend cakes together
I see the changes in you
I remember how it was just a year ago
You are my life; you are my life

As we read our favourite books together
Singing and laughing
I hear the joy in your voice
As we cuddle in for our night read
I listen to you remembering the words
I see how much you've grown
I see the man you will become
You are my life; you are my life

Where have you been all my life? 2

I've been waiting for you: You know it's true
My life's been empty: until You came
I knew You as soon as we spoke
I recognized your smile: I'd seen it all the while
In dreams and days gone by!
How could I know and yet there you were in the flesh
In colours so real: I'll never ever let You go again
As long as I live: I yearn for your love
You know me inside out! You recognize my soul!
You are within my heart! You are the sunshine in my eyes!
You are the cloud that brings me showers
You take my breath away: You fill my lungs again
You are me! In you I see my painful younger days
You are in my dreams: You shadow me
You are the tears I cried!
Yours were the hands that wiped my tears
I know your love is deep: I see the smile that creeps
It appears in tears like rain! It glows in sun showers!
You dwell within my heart! We'll never be far apart
You are the glue that holds me here
I see your smile and all is well!

Blessed exhaustion

Why am I always so tired?
My limbs don't want to move
It's almost as if my life;
My body; is set into a groove.
It's so hard to get right out.
I'd like to jump and shout!
But my energy is sapped,
I really do feel trapped.
Lord you have helped me realise
You are so strong and so wise
I need you always; just to send
Your strength to me; to mend
This poor tired ailing body
As it is all I have to lend.

My soul is truly blessed
By your love in which I rest
Completely in your arms
I surrender to your love
You send it from above
I thank you for your care
Though I feel unworthy
Your dear love; so to bear
This blessing you endow
I can only thank you now
And go on thanking you
So many times each day
For loving me and blessing me
With your beautiful heavenly showers

So thank you Lord; eternally
For every breath I take
I love you Lord and let you know
'Tis only You do make
My days easier to bear
Thank you Lord for loving me
Poor sinner that I am
Giving me your treasures
You bestow upon my heart
Your words do ring and thrum upon
The strings of this dear earthly harp
You bless me with your love
You etch it all in Your own hand
Eternally upon my heart

Your joyous words uplift my heart
I want to sing them out
I will write them all and put them down
To read over and over again
Then pass them round to everyone
To spread Your love round and round
Your love and joy to others
Will I joyfully impart!
Lord, You make my heart soar
You make me everything
That I am and all I need to be
As long as I can know you
I do not need to see
But always will I be
Your servant and your lamb!

Crying for all the children

I'm crying for all the children
I just can't stop the tears
They spill down my cheeks like rain
I want to save them all; my dears
And take away their pain

I ache for all the mothers
For all their years of strain
For all their love and sacrifice
I want to save them from all their fears
And make them smile again

Lord let me aid those poor ones
Ease all those hearts that break
Give me strength to help them
Along their journey; soothe their tears
Lighten the loads they take

For all their heartfelt prayers
Give me courage to understand
Help me heal their heartbreak
By listening to their tales
By sharing their hurt and pain

I know I can't help them all
But let me at least try; doing what I can
With your strength and love to guide me
Help me lift them when they fall
And keep them safe from fainting

Let me serve and uphold your word dear Lord
You've been with me all my life
I ache to be like you; Dear One; you've carried me those times
You were there for me in all those trying hours
When I fell down myself; couldn't get up again

How I long to draw them to me Lord
Like you have taught I should
No matter what their problems
I accept them all dear Lord
For this is all our need

Help me; help me Lord
Before it is too late
I know you wait so patiently
But I beg you still to wait
They don't understand your plans

If only one more hour Lord
Just one more little hour
Let them gather at your gate
I ache for all the children Lord
That they may not be too late

As I watch the world a turning
Time passes by so fast
I see the people hurrying by
They will not hear your word Lord
They are blinded by their lives

They think not of each other
They think only of themselves
They carry on alone
They feel they are okay
And continue not the fight

I cry out loud but no-one hears
Nobody wants to see my tears
Nobody wants to hear my words
They only want what they want
They are surrounded by their fears

I pray and you do answer Lord
To you I surrender all my fears
I know you are all-patient Lord
You know what I need
You know before I ask

You know my heart inside of me Lord
You know me inside out
I am transparent to your eyes
I cannot hide from you my Lord
I know you see my faith

I do not doubt you my Lord
It is the world that hurts
My heart is strong with you inside
My prayers are all I have to give
To help this sighing earth

We are what we eat

Watched a movie the other day
All about the importance of our diet!
"Forks over knives" it was called
What a mess we make; I must confess!
When we give in to our laziness!
Too much sugar; too much fat
Not enough exercise to combat that!
How our poor bodies pay the price!
Of take-aways; our unhealthy vice!
It's only now that they look back at
Childhood illness; obesity; cancers too!
What on earth are we to do?
How can we combat this mess?
Eat healthier food; is my guess!
Studies prove; after many a long year
We are what we eat: for sure!

Baby it's cold outside

Baby it's cold outside!
It's time to stay inside and hide!
Get that wood stove burning!
Get that wheat bag turning; in the old microwave!
The dogs don't want to walk!
They just seem to balk; at the kitchen door!
They say "I'm not going out there!
It's too cold even for my pride!
Let's just stay inside!
Baby it's cold outside!"

Happiness

Feeling great! Being happy! Loving life!
Looking in the bright side!
Keeping on the right side of life's track!
Only looking forward; never looking back!
Seeing the potential; finding the joy!
Not letting little things annoy!
Living life to the full; never being dull!
Taking chances; feeling life's pull!
My cup is never half empty!
It is always half full!

Empty Nest

Our kids are growing up; leaving home!
Empty Nest Syndrome is coming up; leaving us alone!
What will I do with myself? Go mad?
Oh, I already have!
They say insanity is inherited; you get it from your kids!
Just like mum and dad did; from us!
You gotta laugh at life!
Thumb your nose right up at it!
Have fun; live life to the full!
Who knows what tomorrow may bring?
So make your choices; but choose wisely!
Do the right thing and you won't have any regrets!
As you will have to live with those choices
For the rest of your days!

Grape tossing games

Zac's been sick; ill; morose
Hardly smiling all the while
Finally we got a smile
As he tossed those grapes
He laughed out loud
Had his Tia jumping round
Picking them up and putting them in
As quickly as he tossed them out
Bouncing grapes everywhere
Even in Tia Shelley's hair
We all were laughing at the fun
Those precious few moments
Lots of fun!

Rain clouds on Show day

I'd promised Shelley and Emma too
We'd go to the Royal Adelaide Show!
But the grey clouds were everywhere
Rain was falling in Adelaide!
I prayed as we were driving along
"Please dear Lord; please make a hole
In the clouds; so we can see
Some sunshine peeking through!"
A little gap appeared as we drove along
My prayers were answered; being!
As we reached the Adelaide Hills
So much misty rain was falling still
But as we topped the hills and looked; there was
A great big gaping hole among the clouds
Right over the show-grounds up ahead!
As we got into the show
The clouds opened up even more!
No rain came falling down
For two long hours we had our fun
Then as the clouds came back again
I said we had to move along
As off we drove homeward bound
Those rain clouds moving in again
To rain on down upon the show again

Ten litres

10th January 2003

Our van was old; but still it drove
Adelaide; our destination for that day
Vanessa was almost 18 years old
Finally we'd meet her friend from on-line
LOTR the Two Towers; we drove to see
Picture theatre near the park; so neat

At Murray Bridge we stopped  for drinks
Suddenly; I got the urge; "Buy ten litres of water"
I took it to the car; my family amazed
"What do you need so much water for?"
"Something told me to buy this!"
Told them of the urgency; they just laughed!
But took the information in!
Tim checked the water at the garage
Making sure that we'd find no need!

So off we went and had our fun
Watched the movie and enjoyed it all
Met Andres with the longest hair
We'd meant to visit Nana for her birthday
But time ran out; it got too late!
On the way back towards our home
On the free-way heading to Murray Bridge
The van was struggling; heating up!
We had to stop and check it all!
Too hot to handle at the first
We let it cool and the opened her up!
The screw-on cap on the radiator
Was not properly on; thus had emptied out!
The ten litre bottle was opened up
Radiator re-filled; all ready to go!
Off we went; homeward ho!

Glenelg Beach

Glenelg Beach; on a sunny day
My pregnant daughter
My gorgeous grandson; 3 years old
The rocks drew us to seek their power
A seal was sunning itself; a rare sight
Everyone was checking out the scenery
I felt there was to be a test
I felt scared; unsure at best
Finally I went ahead and climbed
The rocks were steep; my legs tired
All was good as I went up hill
So I relaxed; enjoyed the thrill
Then as I turned around to climb back down
I felt so scared to continue on
I felt for sure that I would fall
Then as I was almost safe at last
My foot; it slipped; I toppled forward
But before my face came crashing down
I felt my body lifted up; like in a mystic charm
On invisible angel's arms
I landed safely; surprised; amazed!
I thanked the Lord for saving me from harm!

Raining angels

Rain is falling down from the skies
Knew it was coming 'cos I listen to the magpies
They sing their songs so melodious
To let us know what's coming in the clouds
God's creatures know what's happening
That's why they sing and sing!
We just have to listen in!
Hear their voices as they ring!
So it is in these dark times
Angels sing like bells that chime
Calling us to heed their cries
They await our call to them
They are Jesus' messengers
It only takes a simple word
Hardly even has to be heard
Yes; a little prayer is all it takes
They are ready to guide us on
Away from these terrible times anon
Yes; dear Jesus; Light of all the World
Is waiting for that call
When we will trust His Word
And surrender all!
