Trapped in this life

Are you trapped within your body?
Sucked dry by pain and stress?
Do you wish you could escape?
Find some peace and happiness?

Are you always sick and trembling?
Enfolded within your tired self?
Feel like life is passing you by?
Leaving you stuck upon a shelf?

Are you lost without an anchor?
Adrift in the stormiest of life's seas!
Do you wish you could seek harbour?
Find that blessed peace: release?

Are you driving along life's highway?
Overcome by constant traffic snarls?
Do you feel you're getting nowhere?
Cannot get off no matter how you try?

Turn your eyes upon Jesus...
Look up into those bluest of skies...
Can you not see His hand reaching?
Down to clasp your outstretched hand...

Turn your ears upon Jesus...
Listen hard to His words...
Can you not hear His voice calling?
Pleading for you to come nigh...

Turn your hearts upon Jesus...
Allow your souls to hearken...
Will you not answer His calling?
Allow your hearts to welcome Him in...

Turn your life toward Jesus...
Open up your hardened hearts and begin...
The journey back into His promises...
Where your eternal life lies waiting...

One year and many tears

It's been almost a year
Since you've been gone
We've shed many a tear
Since we've been alone
But though I thought
I was leaving grieving
I guess I was wrong
Pain never leaves you
It just bides it's time
Waiting for that moment
When those tears can slide
As the year is almost over
As the time has flown by
Though the pain is dimming
It never truly leaves my eyes...

Acupuncture to ease headache

She came to me with the headache from hell
So much pain to be seen in her eyes
I understood: could see it all: could tell
Been there: felt so out of control: realised
She felt so lost: in tempest tossed: yes: hell
Desperately need help: needed relief
I sought those pressure points I knew would
Ease that pain that overwhelmed beyond belief
I began to massage her scalp: oh so tight
Those muscles cramping out of control
That pain was so unbelievably strong
It was obvious what was necessary: hold on
The massage oil was soothing: but slow to work
She tossed her head around like a wild eyed horse
I prayed those pain killers would ease: not go berserk
Then I brought out those needles: just a few
Though she hated them: I knew it then
But in desperation I did the only thing I knew
In her pain she agreed: do anything: please
Help me mum: take away this crippling pain
So I pressed those needles into her unwilling flesh
Knew how wonderfully they worked: yes it's true
Knew just what they could do: I'm telling you
Those needles helped me out so many months ago
She was amazed at the relief she felt: instantly
As those fine needles sunk into her hands
Though she hated to admit it: they hit it
Right on the proverbial head: and instead
Of continued pain: there was a lull
Just enough to release her from that strain
Ah thank God for acupuncture needles
Thank God for the ability to help
Another person: another soul in need
A wonderful blessing indeed! Amen

Little monkeys

My little grandsons love climbing
They are no different to me
But what was natural in my days
Is not the same as today
We used to play outside
No matter the weather
No matter the day
It was all there was
No computer games to play
We would climb trees and have fun
Running about: all the time
No matter was it rain or sunshine
We'd build forts out of old bricks
We'd make things out of mud
There were no incentives
To stay inside: it was always outside
That we would play
Walking over to visit neighbours
Chasing each other everywhere
Riding bikes if you had one
No matter what we did
We were always outside
On any given day
I am glad to see my grandsons
Climbing up on every single thing
For that was exactly what I did
Yes that's what I did for fun
So climb on up here boys
Yes climb all over the place
Get outside and have fun
Get some dirt all over your face
Climb up a tree and have fun
Go outside: yes out into the sun
Remember you're only a kid once
Make the most of being young!

Climbing trees

Today's stroll along the roadside
Brought back brilliant memories
Of childhood days and the many ways
That you can climb up amazing trees
The mulberry tree across the road
From Primary School when I was 6 years old
It was the best place to have fun
We climbed like monkeys up and down
Covered in those juices: yes every one
Our hands, legs, clothes and faces: purple
Those stains had to be worn off
No soap could remove them: not at all
It was just one of my happy memories!

The almond tree on our property
Out the back of Moorook: my favourite
I was up that tree no matter what
It was truly my very favourite spot
Ah those days I pretended to be
Absolutely anything or anyone at all
I spent so many days up in my tree
Year in and year out: what a treat!
I will never ever forget that great fun

The walnut tree at Kingston-on-Murray
It was the biggest walnut tree I've ever seen
The thickest branches, the shadiest leaves
When my girls were little they had their fun
The sounds the sprinklers made
As the water-birds spun and spun
Yes that tree was the best walnut tree under the sun!

Brown Hill Creek Recreation Park

We strolled along the road
In Brown Hill Creek recreation park
Among the trees: seeking our exercise
As magpies serenaded above
The hot sun shone down upon our heads
As the gentle breeze sprung up to cool us
A film of perspiration grew upon our brow
As we walked a mile or two to see the view
So peaceful and refreshing it was
A wonderful blessing to be sure
As we all enjoyed our outing
In God's blessed nature: a cure
For what ever ails you...

A walk in the park

We took a walk in the park
Little children, adults, everyone
We played follow the leader
Enjoyed the exercise: had fun
Saw Koalas sleeping in the trees
Underneath the glowing sun
Cool wind sweeping up the leaves
'Neath the dappled shaded oaks
Beside the paved road we took
Though we clambered down the bank
There was no water in the brook
A startled Roo went hopping off
A majestic eagle soared above
As we ambled peacefully along
Enjoying the blessed Sabbath day

As little children

As little children
He would have us come
Yes: both the Father
And also the Son
Entreat us to consider
Implore us to decide
To accept His love for ever
Never to be cast aside
So, come as little children
Heed the warning trump
Our Father in heaven
Calls us: come!

Amazing Diandra

I just can't stop watching that video
Of an 11 year old girl called Diandra
Sing "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone!"
Evaleah and I watched the song about a dozen times
Last night: yes we did: it was amazing
Evlaeah kept wanting to watch it over and over again
Me too! Fantastic little song: fantastic young lady!

February is over

I can't believe this year is flying past so fast
Already: it's the end of February!
In just few more weeks it will be my birthday
Another year to tick off on the clock of life
Another birthday candle to blow out
Another excuse to eat some cake
But I guess it will happen no matter what
So lets just get on with life and do our best
Be thankful that we are loved; blessed!
As I said on my Facebook page
I am thankful for so many things
For the love of my family
For having a roof over my head
For having food to eat
For having a bed in which to sleep
For being able to enjoy what life brings
The chance to see the setting sun
The feeling of the breeze upon my skin
Hearing the laughter of my precious grand kids
As John Lennon wrote many years ago
We wait for things to come to us
While missing life that is happening
Right in front of our eyes it flies away
Have we even seen the blessings of each day
Have we appreciated what comes our way?
Look around and take it in
Appreciate every tiny little thing
For you never know what tomorrow may bring...

Around the reef

Today was such a pleasant day
I took a long swim: it was great!
Out to the reef and around about
Checked out the anchor: as I do
Swam right under and touched it too!
Then as I swam further out to sea
Through the gap in that reef you see
I was totally amazed by that scenery
So many huge rocks spilled in by man
Creating this amazing wonderland
So many fish all over the place
All shapes and sizes: colours too
It was so beautiful I'm telling you
I saw starfish: bright orange ones
Clinging to the rocks around about
The corals arranged in brilliant array
Pinks and blacks, covered with sea weeds
Flowering pink among the browns
Pretty green polyps floating about
So many sea creatures everywhere
Some fish looked like they had eyes
On opposite ends to trick those guys
Who prey upon them and try to eat
Them for dinner: they're on a winner
Escaping and swimming free
I saw great chasms within the rocks
Saw fish swimming down into the deep
Hiding from the world above
Seeking the darkness of that peace
I kept on swimming on and on
Until I'd gone right past the pier
Some boys were walking upon the reef
Shouting out to their friends in glee
I looked at them but they didn't even see me
The exercise was so good for me
As I swam and swam around that jetty
The further I got to the north
The less the beauty: the uglier the scenery
Less sea grasses: less animal life you see
I wonder why it decreased like that
It truly did baffle me: pollution? Maybe?
As I turned around and swam back to the pier
I discovered a massive ship's anchor chain
Lying silently in it's watery grave
Covered in the usual undersea barnacles...
Wondered from whence it came and when?
Probably from many long years ago
When early settlers sailed upon these shores
Bringing grain and harvested stocks
To sell to people from these very docks
Ah the amazing history of these shores
I could just keep on gong to explore some more!

Ray

Swimming in the sea can be
An interesting experience for me
I love to check out all the fish you see
Just to see if they will stare back at me
Saw a stingray just the other day
But he had no stinger: that is sad
Does that then just make him a ray?
What do you reckon? What do you say?

Kissing frogs

They say you have to kiss a lot of frogs
Just to find your prince: I guess it's true
But what is a girl to do?
How do you find your prince?
How do you go about this chore?
Do you simply go out into the world?
Take your chances as you explore?
Do you offer up your wishes like a prayer?
Do you crawl around the pubs: oh beware!
Do you think it happens like a charm?
Do you fall in love just like that: what harm?
Well I've seen a lot of frogs out there
Seen them hopping around without a care
Taking scalps along the way: a new girl
Yes: every single day: what more can I say?
That is definitely not the way!
So what do you do? How to find that path?
That leads to happiness: what a laugh!
Do you ask the universe to lend a hand?
Allowing your thoughts to rise up and out
Yes; into the atmosphere: up, up and away!

Well I said a prayer or two just recently
Asked the Lord: yes: decently: please supply
A good hearted man who loves the Lord
A man who is trustworthy: honours his word
A man who is kind to animals: good with kids
A  man who will understand my blessed work
A man who will love me like I wish: as I deserve
A man who loves to laugh and have some fun
A man who enjoys walking hand in hand under the sun

Do you think he answers prayers like these?
I'll let you know when I hear back from Him!

Miss Jamaica

Met a lady in the Target store
We started talking that's for sure
Said she was from Jamaica
Michelle was her given name
Was so sad for she had no friends
Felt so alone and forlorn: heart was torn
Left her family far behind her
Travelled here to Australia to live
Making a new life with her husband
Found the people here were snobs
Didn't care to understand her
(She'd worked as a policewoman back home
A respected pillar of her family and society)
Here: Ignored her: despised her: ostracised her!
What is the matter with some folks?
Why cant they just accept our differences
Look beneath the colour of our skin
Maybe understand we are all
The same beneath our skin!
We all have beating hearts within
Our blood flows red when we bleed
Our systems function just like theirs
So why be mean? Why split hairs?
I gave her some understanding words
Said I understood: I heard
Gave her a copy of my poetry book
Gave her my phone number to boot
Said she'd send me an sms
But you know it's been weeks
Still haven't heard: I guess it's sad but true
Maybe she is rethinking her quick words
That's okay I really do not mind
It's just that friends are really hard to find
I was after all; just being kind!
Hope you are well Michelle from Jamaica!

Polished to a sheen

We are all but diamonds in the rough
Unrefined: lumps of useless clouded glass
Until we are heated, brought up to scratch
Until we are passed through test after test...

Should we be treated in any other way? Any less?

The heat and friction we endure is a must
For without this combination: without this thrust?
We will remain ever clouded: ever weak, unjust
We must endure all of these cleansing fires
We must endure this heavy polishing: from our king
So that eventually: after going through everything
We will shine our light through life's gloom
Yes: after all the friction: after all the fire
We will be found: the final sparkling gem
God's love will shine from within: yes it's true
This is what God is trying so hard to do!

We are those diamonds in the rough
The friction that we are to endure
Is what will polish us to that glorious sheen
That will shine from within...
That all might see just exactly
Where it is that we have been!

Waiting for the day

I am waiting for the day
Yes I am waiting: come what may
It's like time is standing still
And yet: I am getting older
But when am I classed as "over the hill"

What makes us continue on and on?
What is it that we expect life to bring?
Are we simply waiting for that special someone?
For that something that will take away life's sting?
What on earth are we waiting for?

Better yet: what in heaven are we waiting for?
Is it Jesus: He it is who truly knows the score!

We go about our lives: many don't even care!
Each day we get up and simply stumble along
Aimless: rudderless: wondering what is wrong?
Are we waiting for someone who knows our song?
Are we waiting for the "good" life to come along?
As Shakira sang: "I'm ready for the good times!"
What exactly is it that makes a good time "good"?
How can we possibly understand?
Unless we have something with which to compare...
Could we understand sunshine without the rain?
Could we understand happiness without pain?
Could we understand loss without gain?
Could we understand anything without the comparison?
The opposite: the upside: the balance in the scales
Are we too stupid to realise that life is the journey!
This life: this every day: this minute: this second
Each and every second we have the chance
To find a little joy: to find something with which to employ
Our minds; our hearts: our souls: our life!
Are we so lost along our path that we forget?
To see the brighter side of every little thing...
Did you notice last night's sunset?
Did you see the sky becoming pale?
Did you hear the birdsong in the trees?
Did you feel the breeze as it touched your skin?
Did you notice anything: yesterday?
Will you see or feel any of these things today?
Will you take the time to just listen?
To a child laughing as she plays at home?
Will you put down your stupid telephone?
And actually notice some tiny precious moment in time
Without being locked into all that bullshit
That they: the government of this world
Want you to be stuck in: want us to be brought up in...

Look around and see and feel and actually take note...
Don't just speak like a robot: like you learned by rote...
Get out into the sunshine: feel the rain upon your skin
Take notice of the other person walking by
Look at them: look them in the eye
Smile: show some happiness on your dial
Feel alive: just feel: just take a few minutes
To really appreciate what life you have
Are you breathing in and out?
Are you moving: can you shout?
Are you able to lift the corners of your mouth?
Are you able to enjoy some little tiny thing?
Is it good? is it uplifting?

Please take the time to make someone else's day
Look around and realise how blessed this life is
If only you will take notice: take the times to see
That Jesus gave His precious life
Yes He gave everything: for us
So we could live our lives: without condemnation
Without losing everything: it's true
Look at what He has already done for you and me
He took our sins upon that painful tree
That bloody cross on Calvary where
His blood: His tears: His life He gave
So that we might be saved this unbearable cost
If we had to endure those things He did for us?
We would all: yes every single one: be lost!

Evaleah just called to say I love you

I heard the ring on my telephone
It said it was my daughter: Vanessa
But when I answered no sound came
So I thought it might be another caller
And as I spoke into that telephone
I heard a little voice answer to her name
Evaleah... Are you there? Yes I know
It's you on the other end: on the line
Please talk to me my darling
Please answer sweetheart: how are you
I heard a tiny voice say to me
"I love you!" Yes it's true
Evaleah called to say "I love you!"
Then clearly my precious little girl
Said: out of the blue
"I love mummy!" I swear to you!

Dinner is ready

We set the table for our dinner
Called to the boys: no one came
The food was ready: it was hot
No response: that's what we got!
Then I heard the patter of little feet
Evaleah came running: was so sweet
Up she climbed onto a kitchen chair
Clambered over: higher still
Into her high-chair: with a will!
She was hungry: no denying it!
Held up her arms: ready to admit
"I'm hungry mummy: feed your little child!
We both just stood there and smiled!

Shells

Shells upon the sandy beach
Some still new, colourful
Some bleached white, brittle
So old and thin: they've given in
There's no life left in them
Once they shone
Once they were as new

Is this to be the same?
Is this how it will happen?
To me...to you?

Are we simply tossed upon the shores?
In this life we lead
Are we down, despondent?
Does our poor heart bleed?
For our sorrows: for our needs...

Well please listen...
Please hear the loud cry
Jesus is coming again
His promises are sure
His love: undemanding
He will take us home
Those long gone
And those still standing
Will be borne upon angel's wings

Only allow Him entrance
Only invite Him in
Give to Him the keys
To your heart and soul
Yes: allow Him in
Give Him sole control

For our Father promised
Our Father delivered
His only begotten son
To take our sins
Until into heaven we could wing...

School of germs

He goes to school in the morning
He comes home in the early afternoon
But though he went alone...
He never returns solo
Each and very day
As he goes about his play
Those germs that others bring
To his hands and to his clothes...
They cling
The first few years of school life
Were ever the same
Who can you trust?
Who can you blame?
So many little children
Playing together every single day
Do they wash their hands?
No! To all our dismay!
Each week brought new illness
Each week he had to stay
At home to recover
At home we discovered
That it happened weekly
What more can anyone say?
Finally we took him to the doctors
And demanded a blood test
Could they please tell us
What was really happening...
We were surprised to say the very least
But at least we discovered
The very nature of the beast...
He had had a terrible virus
They called it CMV
And though it had passed through
It had left its effects we feared
Then he had anaemia
No oxygen going around
No wonder he was always tired
Poor little fellow was so stressed
Tests also showed he'd had glandular fever
Even though he was only six years old
How he'd got this we know not
But it obviously took its toll!
To top it all off we discovered
His left ear was almost totally filled
With fluid so that ear drum
Could barely vibrate you know
All these things we discovered
And finally results began to show
He needed an operation
To remove his tonsils, adenoids
For his breathing was so restricted
It caused 80 percent blockage and
He was snoring every night
My poor little grandson
Was so ill and getting worse
Until finally it was decided
To operate and reverse his course...

Now 6 months later
You wouldn't believe the change
He is full of life and energy
He is growing stronger every day
Now at last he is responding
He is growing up, filling out
He has energy to fight back
With his little brother and his sis
He is so much happier at last
And we his family are thankful
That his terrible illness is now past!

My young man

My son turned 20 today
No longer a teenager
He is now considered a man
But how do we assess his life?
How do we decide the change?
There are no tangible differences
In reality he looks just the same
Exactly as he was yesterday
But still there is a change...
In ancient days there would have been
A ceremony...a transition into manhood
A subtle yet obvious spiritual growth
Why do we not follow these ancient ceremonies?
What do our young have to look forward to?
They are not viewed any differently
They are not treated in any way to show
That they are now adults: grown ups...
Oh yes there are times when a birthday
Is looked upon as a marker: a turning point
But in the western world there is nothing
Other than at 18 and 21...it is assumed
That you are now grown up: considered adult
Ready to stand up and be counted
Old enough to be responsible enough
Of an age where you are considered a man
But when did he actually leave childhood behind?
Was it when he became a teenager?
Did something change? Yes: physically maybe
But what of the inner being? The inner soul?
Was there a shift in his understanding?
Did he become more mature simply becsuse
Of another birthday added to his tally?
Does a certain age make you a man or woman?
We do not celebrate any rites of passage
Maybe overseas: in other cultures
In the Jewish culture at 13 boys are considered men
But not here: not in the western world...
When my daughter graduated from year 7
We had a little ceremony with the school group
A simple thing it was...but beautiful
From child to teen: from Primary school
To high school...a subtle yet major change
We released helium filled balloons
To which were tied notes, wishes, affirmations
Hopes and dreams were sent into the heavens
To farewell youth and welcome in
The beginning of a new life
A release of the past childhood
An acceptance of future change...

So...now he is a man...My young man
Ready to take on the world
Dear Lord I do pray so...

When I'm feeling down

When I'm feeling down
I turn my eyes unto you
For my dearest Lord in heaven
I cannot live without you
You took my sins upon your heart
You carried them for me
You took my cross
You saved my soul on Calvary
Yes: because of you my Lord
I have my saviour and when I am weak
You also carry me!

High tide

I went swimming at high tide today
There were people everywhere
Everybody sought the shade of the jetty
Not enough spaces underneath there
I swam out to the reef as is my habit
Enjoying the coolness of the sea
There were fishermen all over the place
Dangling their angling lines for a chance
The fish were smarter: hiding beneath the waves
I could see them gliding here and there
The reef was beautiful: is it man made?
Those huge rocks look like they've been placed
Dumped there mechanically: dumped into the sea
Making that protective reef: using man's ability
To change the environment to suit his needs
Well he made the reef for the fish: they congregate
They hang about everywhere: doing their fishy thing
Ignoring those fishing lines: they were doing fine
I saw then swimming everywhere: without a care
As I returned towards the pier: I saw some snorkelers
Gathering beneath that man-made Jetty
There to my surprise: were hundreds of fish
All shapes all sizes: yes indeed: having a ball
It was as if those smarter fish just knew
They wouldn't be bothered if they stayed
Close to the group of snorkelers too!
It was a wonderful sight to be sure
Knowing those fish were safe from those lures
Enjoying the beauty and the peace beneath
The cooling waters below the jetty
Ah it was a pleasure to swim to shore
I had a great time and what is more
Those fish were happy to have their fun
Just like everybody else under the sun!

Complicated

I heard your voice; yesterday
It was such a blessing: hooray
I'd missed all contact: indeed
That hurt so much: I was relieved
I really missed you: was so sad
But now I'm truly over the moon
For I know we'll be together soon!
This loving you is so complicated
Love you so much: know it's fated
It's as if everything is against us
Except our Lord: please consecrate us!

God's Timing

Life is all about timing
Yes; it is true
Do we ever truly understand?
Just what it is that God?
Has already planned for me; for you?

With God all things are possible
With God all things are reachable
With God all things are attainable
With God all things are available

Through Jesus Christ we are able
To find all that God has planned for us
It's all about God's timing: His not ours!

We must never rely on people
We must never rely on circumstance
These can change at any time

Rely on God!
He loves us and never changes!

Look at the story of Joseph:
He was loved by his father Jacob
He was taught all about God
He was sold into slavery
By his jealous brothers
He was taken into Egypt
He did all his work to the glory of God
He was thrown into prison
He was left there for years
He never lost his faith in God
He never asked: Why me?
He was taught patience
He was brought out of prison
He became second only to Pharaoh
He was able to aid his family
He was blessed by his father in heaven
He waited upon the Lord
He waited upon God's timing
What a blessed life came out of his misery!

The gaps between my fingers

There are gaps between my fingers
Some are large, some are small
But I now know the reasons
Yes it's true: God made them all
He knows just what I need
He knows everything before I call
For He has planned my salvation
Way before I even began to fall
Those gaps between my fingers
There is a purpose for them all
They are there to be filled up by
The other heart who is my soul mate
That other soul who is to walk with me
Through some or all of my seasons
Yes; that special someone God will send
That love who is for all seasons
There to fill those gaping holes
With love, laughter and fulfilment
By holding onto this...my little hand
Yes; it will be: exactly...
As my Lord has planned!

Make or break

Never think hard about your past
It brings tears...
Never think hard about the future
It brings fears...
Live this moment with a smile
It brings cheer...
Every test in our life makes us
Bitter or better...
Every problem comes to
Make us or break us...
The choice is ours whether we become
Victims or victorious
Beautiful things are not always good...
Good things are not always beautiful...

Four seasons in one life

A man had four sons
He sent them out to see
To describe life and living
Yes to you and to me

He sent them to the pear tree
Each in a different season
Asked to describe it fully
As they saw it: yes honestly!

The first son went in winter
He was not impressed
"It was twisted, bent, ugly"
"No beauty" he confessed

The second son went in springtime
Found it covered in green buds
"It is full of promise: new life"
It is, he said "ready to be blessed"

The third son went in summer
It was laden with blossoms
"It smelled sweet, was graceful"
"A pleasure to behold": he told

The fourth son went in autumn/fall
The tree was full of ripened fruit
"Dripping with fulfilment: truly blessed!"
"A thing of beauty!" he confessed

Each son was correct: the father sighed
We cannot judge a tree or a person
By viewing only one season in his life
The essence of who they are lies within

Their pleasure, joy and love; life
Can only be measured at the end
When all the seasons are up
That's when we are able to decide...

If you give up in winter?
You miss the promise of spring...
You miss the beauty of summer
You miss the fulfilment of your fall

Don't let the pain of any season
Destroy the joy of the rest of your life
Never compare your life to someone else's
For how can you ever understand it?

Based on what you see...
What you see is an illusion
Based on your perception
It is not their reality...

Astronaut

We have that invisible connection
It spans the oceans; spans the seven seas
I feel the strength of it pulling, tugging at me
It is as constant as the stars in the velvet skies
It is like the magnetic poles surrounding earth
As they spill out into the blessed universe
(Invisible to the naked eye but there none the less)
We are tied together by the softest of gossamer ribbons
Wafting upon the gentlest breeze; floating up with ease
This miraculous connection: invisible to the naked eye
But never so to our beating hearts: to our blessed souls
Do you feel it tugging at the centre of your being?
Tugging at the very centre of your soul?
Does it keep you grounded?
Does it keep you floating like an astronaut?
Tethered to the mother ship: but still outside
Yes: outside of her impenetrable hull?

This is how it feels this morning: you are my astronaut!
You are attached by that silken cord: that life line...
That invisible yet powerful connection
Drawn between our beating hearts
Keeping us connected: floating together
Never to be torn apart...

Do you feel it? Do you feel the same? Confide in me...

Coral reef

Coral reef beneath the sea
Full of fish: beautiful scenery
So many colours to be seen
Swimming around the rocks
All colours on display that day
Pinks and greens, oranges too
Beneath the waves another world
Comes alive just out of view
Bring your goggles: take a look
They await your praise
God's precious gifts for us to see
As we finally surrender
To that magnificent splendour
Of that different life
That simple life: beneath the sea!

Shades of Nemo

Snorkelling at Christie's beach
The weather was hot and fair
Sun shone down in blistering heat
Under the cooling water: I was there!
As I swam toward the rocks
I was amazed to see the school
Hundreds of silver bream
Every where I looked: they were there!
Big fish, little fish...all sizes in between
I was swimming with them
It just like a movie scene
Shades of Nemo I thought to myself
As they turned, swam and shimmered
Just like they did I the cartoon film
It felt so magical: so unreal
To be a part of this natural scene
Surrounded by that huge school of fish
As I floated there and watched in awe
An outside observer: finally allowed in!
