Let it be me instead

I hate it when my grandsons are sick

I wish I could take away their pain

I wish I could take their place

I can't bear to see them so ill

It hurts me to feel so helpless

So useless in keeping them from harm

These past few weeks have been so difficult

To hear them being sick and in pain

Oh Lord I pray; let it be me instead!
