Kaiser Safe and Sound

Kaiser was our beautiful German shepherd
He loved to go for his precious walks
Tim would take him down the beach
At night he would walk between
The two jetty's from Largs North
All the way to Semaphore
Vanessa was just a baby then In 1985
I was home with our little girl
When the wind began to howl
I heard the rain pelting on the windows
As the storm came in from over the sea
I heard the thunder and watched
The lightning lighting up the sky but
I fell asleep in our warn bed
Never realising the drama going on outside!
Tim was walking back as the storm came in
He thought Kaiser was beside him
As he walked; his head bowed for protection
From those gusty winds and pelting rain
When he got back to the car he realised
Kaiser was not at his side
He called and called for ages
Retraced his steps and cried
Couldn't find our boy anywhere
He was so upset as he drove home
Ready to admit he'd lost him!
When lo and behold; there he was
Sheltering at our front door!
He must have gotten frightened
As the thunder and lightning growled
He ran for home with out a backward glance
Terrified of that powerful storm and
Knowing that safety was at home!
Tim was overjoyed to find him safe
He didn't mind those extra miles
He was just so happy to have his boy
In his arms; safe and sound!
