I didn't expect to see him
The man without a face
Some awful thing befell him
Now he has no precious face
His eyes were wild; troubled
Obviously he knew; no-one
Would want to see him
No-one could countenance his plight
For where his face should be
Was emptiness; destroyed; what a sight
Ah poor man: I was almost overcome
But I managed not to look askance
I said "hello" and kept on walking
Said a prayer for that poor man
That man without a face...
