A life of loss

He has had a life of loss
Lost his father: lost the gloss
Taken from his dear old mum
Tossed into that boy's home chum
He suffered greatly don't you see
That poor little boy: don't pity me!
Felt deserted: broken in twain
Thought he would rather die: in pain
When that sore grew upon his lip
He hoped that his life would slip
Away! Yes he prayed that he would die
That's what he thought: I tell no lie!
What can one expect when life becomes
A loveless one: a sad existence; undone
This is how he survived that sad clime
Thinking only of his mum: biding his time!
A harsher existence I could not face
Left defenceless in that terrible place!
