Never swear

Never promise something 
You can never hope to give
Never swear that you will
"As long as you both shall live"
Anything you say out loud
Will be heard by other ears
Taken down and used against
The very person you hope to be
It becomes a working snare
To bring about your downfall
Evil works against us...
Evil works to make it impossible
For us to get ahead: eventually
You'll fall flat upon your face
End up alone or in disgrace...
Many a word said in jest
Taken so very seriously
Will end up being turned around
And yes; will be used against ye
So if you promise to be faithful
Satan sends along a snare
Ready to trip you up
Temptation looks you in the face
Take a hold if you really dare
No man can ever promise
Total fidelity: even Simon Peter
Was beyond reproach: yet he
Denied His Lord three times
He was terribly scared
Words like "I will never let you down"
"I will love you forever"
"I will always be here for you"
Though wonderful sentiments indeed
Please be aware that when it's said
You will planting a tiny seed
Satan will take hold of it
Water it well indeed...
Help it grow until it spreads
Like some awful strangling weed
Circumstances will come along
Sins will be pushed before your eyes
Little by little in he will creep
Until you're buried up to your nose
So never swear to any man
Never promise something lifelong
For only time will tell 
Before he brings you too undone
