It started before we married

It started before we married
I happened before I knew
The pain we caused each other
Those things that we would do
I knew things would go haywire
Just like a devilish witches brew
We said our vows in the church
We said "I do" walked past the pews
But already things were troubled
Already there seemed nothing I could do
Mum told me a story long ago
About her daughter crying out to her
Saying "I don't want to marry him!"
As she sat upon her knee
But it took a while for me to understand
That crying girl was me!
I couldn't remember that part
It was lost from my memory
But mum still remembers
Just like it was yesterday: you see
That's what stays in her mind
Even after all these long years
And it will for eternity!
