Just as Jesus planned

He was living in the back room
Of "The Good Samaritan"
Trying to get his life back together
Doing the best any poor man can
Decided to drop off some leaflets
In people's letterboxes all over town
On Churchill road he wandered
Delivering those precious words
A "Love letter from Jesus"
That's what the leaflets said
Doing his job: just as Jesus planned!

Years later on He was walking
Along Churchill road again
Looking to buy a caravan to live in
He saw one sitting there in a yard
Decided to go and ask: just in case
"Is that caravan for sale?"
"Yes!" the woman replied: "come inside"
As she searched for the papers
There upon the fridge he spied
A copy of the very leaflet
He delivered those years ago
Just as Jesus planned

How to ask the questions he pondered
Would she tell her tale: open up?
So he built up the courage by saying
"That's an unusual poem you have
Sticking there upon your fridge"
Yes she said: "that leaflet saved my life"
I lost my dear husband back then
My precious brother within three short days
I was so sad that I'd decided to take my own life
I had everything ready: all was planned
Those tablets were there ready with the drink
Until I heard the letterbox bell chiming
Just as Jesus planned!

Her dear husband had set it all up
Installed a little bell in their kitchen
Whenever a letter was delivered
Into that letter box: the bell would ring
"So I got up to check the letter box
Wondering what news it would bring?
There I found the love letter from Jesus
Those precious words: touched my heart
Jesus' love saved me that very day"
Just as Jesus planned!
