I bought some Stock flowers
I love their beautiful scent
It makes the whole verandah smell
So beautiful: so fresh & divine!
My mum loves carnations
I even bought her some talcum powder
She liked to smell their lovely scent
Now it seems they no longer smell!
So beautiful: like they used to!
Same with roses: their colours
So bright & glorious: but what happened?
Where is that precious scent?
Have we messed around so much
Changed their essence to suit
Our need for brighter colours
But along the way the scent has gone
I miss that glorious God-given scent!
