Bruised dignity

Poor mum had a fall last week
We were walking back after a break
Had a wonderful lunch at the markets
Even had pancakes with strawberries
We were heading back to the car at last
Weren't really walking all that fast
Suddenly mum was down upon the ground
Lost her footing: she didn't even know how
Couldn't get up: it was just too hard!
People came rushing to offer aid
A stool was brought: people all around
A big man came and offered his hand
Said "Hang on to my shoulders madam
We'll have you up in no time at all!"
Got mum up and had her relaxing upon that seat
Giving her a chance to catch her breath
Giving her a chance to get up on her feet
Thank God for perfect strangers in the street
I rushed off to bring that car much closer in
Then poor mum wouldn't have so far to go
Finally had mum strapped safely in her seat
We headed off to drop Shelley off at work
She was worried and said "take her to emergency"
But mum was fine she was just a bit embarrassed
"I am alright honey: it's just my dignity that's bruised!"
The we drove back home to Berri in the Riverland
Another long day over: another escapade under our belts!
