I heard a tune that burns in my heart and mind
It is a song of long ago days: 'tis one of a kind
Long ago they sang it for a Bonnie Prince
It is renewed again: reborn into another time
It is such a haunting melody that calls out to me
A beauty to hear more lovely to sing: it is my mine
"Sing me a song of a lass that is gone
Say could that lass be I?"
Every time I hear it I swear it calls to my soul and mind
It was also a hymn to the Lord: a blessed song divine
What a blessing to have it reborn again and again
What a treasure to find: oh what a treasure to find!
