Pulled from the wreckage

Like a scene from a movie
The car fell from the sky
He was escaping from
The police cars chasing
He was a silly young guy
They had ceased to chase him
Knowing it was dangerous
But still he revved that engine
Still he floored that pedal down
Something happened to the car
Unexpectedly it veered and then
It was spinning out of control
Flying down from that overpass
Landing heavily: upside down!
I was heading home from church
Never expecting those roads to be blocked
And as I drove closer in: I was truly shocked
What was happening? What was going on?
A car laying upside down: people everywhere
Police racing in: sirens blaring: ambulance
Smoke billowing: extinguishers a-foam
It was only the next day that I knew for sure
Headlines all over the newspapers
Telling everyone the score
Stolen vehicle: young man in hospital
Pulled from the wreckage: saved by the bell
Ah some stupid people just don't comprehend
The magnitude of the mess they make
When running from the law
Dear Lord I thank you that nobody else
Was injured; was hurt: because of
One young man's joy ride: almost straight to hell!
