Sleeping babies

Imagine the difficult times last century
Way back in the early years of the 1900's
A lifetime ago: who is left to remember?
All those have who departed long ago...
Poor mother sadly peering...
At her three little children: ill...
Lying so still upon their little beds...
They looked so serene: like angels
Sleeping babies: so pure and sweet
Too late they realised...
Too late to say more prayers...
Her three little angels...
Had already gone to God...
Her three little angels...
Gone from their mother's arms
Only Jesus now would keep them...
For eternity in His loving arms...

Tim's grandmother lost her three youngest
Alice aged 3, another 18 months
And baby George aged 8 months
While she was already pregnant...
With his mother Evelyn...
During terrible times in 1916
There are differing accounts
As to the illness that took her babies
Diptheria, Scarlet Fever...
Or maybe even the Spanish Flu
That was raging across the continent...
