Vision of time

Watching him get out of the car
Brought back long distant memories
A time when I was young and free
And you were so in love with me
Days when you were slender as a reed
You wore well cut shirts: open necked
Way back in those late nineteen seventies
Tailored trousers upon your slim hips
Ah those days when we had just begun
Our life together: we were so full of fun
No problems yet marred our days and nights
We were happy then: no terrible fights
Ah it seems such a long time ago indeed
Before troubles came to spread unchecked
And we were in love: young and free indeed
