Pearls of wisdom

I still have a precious book from childhood
Fairy tales and such with gorgeous pictures
Tales by Perrault and others I guess and yes
They do have some wonderful pearls of wisdom!
One story I remember is of a mother with two daughters
One was always mean to the other for she was beautiful
(Jealousy is an ugly sin and never seems to pay off)
Well especially if this tale is to be believed!
The sweet daughter worked hard: did everything: like Cinderella!
The other was lazy and nasty with it! What a shrew!
Waiting at the well one day she met a good fairy (in disguise of course!)
She willingly drew water from the well for the old woman
Sharing everything she had with whomever she met was her joy
The blessing was given and when she arrived home
Every word she spoke was followed by precious jewels
From her beautiful lips: they just fell out into her hands!
Of course as you can imagine: the ugly sister
Wanted the same riches for herself: thinking she had the right to such!
The nasty shrew went to the well hoping to also meet the good fairy
But instead she met an old woman: bent over with age!
She was nasty and told her to do it herself: she was waiting for her good fortune!
Of course she got her just deserts: when ever she spoke: frogs burst forth
From those nasty lips of hers and she went away without a blessing but a curse!

It is the same with us today: In the Bible it says the same thing!
Kind words are as pearls of great beauty from our lips: an honour to behold
Goodness and love will be given in return for the kindness that you say but
Hateful angry words are as a curse: for as you sow: so shall you reap!
