Weeping willow

Weeping willow: why do you cry?
Have the autumn rains passed you by?
Weeping willow: tendrils hanging down
Why are you un-smiling: wearing a frown?
I see the bridge within your dappled shade
I see the twisting creek-bed: it is so dry!
Weeping willow: your branches hanging low
Why are you so quiet? What do you know?
Weeping willow: please listen to me now
A gentle breeze is sighing through drying boughs
Deciduous trees are crying: shedding burgundy tears
But weeping willow: you will live
For so many more long, long years!
