Statistically speaking

Times are tough: difficult at best
So much hatred: so much unrest
People angry with the world: alarmingly
Go out into the city streets: destroying things
Life holds no value: many are maimed; killed
What has life come to in these last days?
People everywhere seeking greater and greater thrills
There is no love lost between mankind
Are they so wrapped up within themselves?
Are they so very unaware: as to be so totally blind?
Whatever happened to kindness?
Whatever happened to brotherly love?
Ah dear Lord in heaven up above...
Please help those blinded by earthly lusts
Look into their hearts and find what’s lost
Without your blessed love we are so very lost
Ah the dangers that: overcome us
When it is no longer: “In God we trust!”

“Crime of every kind has sky-rocketed
Out of proportion to the growing population
60 percent of criminal cases go unsolved
Only one crime in 12 reaches a court sentence
The police chief of London says that
Last year was the worse year of the century
One boy in six is sooner or later referred to a court
40 percent of all male children living in the USA
Will be arrested for non-traffic offences
In many cities, women are afraid to go out after dark
Rapes, assaults, sadistic violence and robberies are sky-rocketing”

This was all written in 1966. 50 years ago.

The closing years of the ill-fated Kingdom of Israel were
Marked with violence and bloodshed such as had never
Been witnessed even in the worst periods of
Strife and unrest under the house of Ahab...
King after king was assassinated to make way
For others ambitious to rule

Prophets and Kings page 279

Will we ever learn?
