Paddy melon games

We lived on a fruit block
Halfway up a hill
In Kingston-on-Murray
Paddy melons grew wild
On the road sides
And in between the trees
Dad loved to play games with us
We'd collect a heap
Of those wild melons
Then we'd play melon games
Rolling them down the hill!
The winner was the one
Who could make his melon roll
The furtherest down that hill!
My dad was good at this
He always won the championship
I remember playing with my nephew Hugh
And Vanessa and even Shelley
When they were little girls
We'd laugh out loud
We'd scream and shout
It was so much fun
Playing melon wars
Hitting the others melon out of the way
Making it fun; shouting in the sun
Getting our exercise; getting our fresh air
All those years ago! In the Aussie sun!
