Just across the border

How many of us actually understand?
How very lucky we may be?
How many truly comprehend?
How blessed to be so free?
We live these insular little lives
We have everything we could possibly need
Whilst over the ocean: not so far away
People every day: are going hungry!
We have our three square meals
Our gadgets and our our tellys
But just across the waters
Just across a few imaginary borders
They have so very little
Barely anything that we would class as feed
No modern cons no shopping malls
Just a few bare floors: bare walls
Lord help us to think upon these problems
Lord help us to bridge the widening gaps
If only we could give more to help
Maybe open up the gates of these dams
These inconsiderate traffic jams of life
Give to those who truly need it
Give to those who starve: feed them
Give to those without the pearly gates
For though we have abundance
They have nothing! Please help us!
Help us to make things more even
Open up our hardened hearts
For it is only if we give: we forgive
That The Lord will give to us
Only then that we can hope to receive
Any of His truly glorious magnificence!
