Letter to Oprah

Wrote a letter to Oprah
Thinking to tell her all
About his sorry life
Left nothing out
It was all there
The sorrow: the strife
Emailed it to her
At Harpo Studios
But never got a reply
Never heard from her
Wondered about that
But got on with his life

He wrote many letters
Well actually dictated them
He'd never had an education
Never really learnt how
So I was privy to his thinking
I was allowed to come inside
That deep dark hollow
Where he let his demons reside
Poor boy: never really grew up
Was trapped deep inside
Still that scared little boy
Never got to escape
That roller coaster ride
He had his days of happiness
Days of sadness too but
He never got over
The beatings and abuse
