Beauty is a poor girl's curse

Think about all little girls
Raised in a man's world
Taught obedience and trust
Until sold unto evil: thrust

What choice has any woman got?
Where men rule; and their lust
Is she given any choice?
Does she even have a voice?

Sold into sexual slavery
From an early age...
Thrust into that limelight
Caught up in a filthy cage...

Men teach her to be used
Often badly treated: abused
Has she any value in their eyes?
No: she is frowned upon, despised

She is never lifted up: praised
Once upon that well-worn trade
There is nothing for her: as she was raised
There is no looking back: I'm afraid

To all and sundry, one and all
Her whole life hangs under a pall
No love is given: no, none at all
For she is a pariah: a fallen girl

Even a dog is treated better
At least it is put out of its misery...
While she must go on and on
Seeking a man to keep her: sugar daddy

What a life she reaches now...
None would want to touch her
For she is cursed: spat at...
Simply used by her culture...

What ever happened to loving kindness?
The whole world looks on in blindness
Everywhere she turns: there's hatred
Every overture she makes is spurned

That sneer upon onlooker's faces
Evil glares: no second glances
She is lost in a world; not of her making
Bereft, despised: could you make it?
