I will not work for you

I heard a sad old story
About a big strong man
He was taken from his family
Sold into slavery in America
As they put him up for auction
These words he would always say
"I will not work for you!"
Yes each and every single time
These same words he would proclaim
Her was sold at auction...
Sold to the highest bidder
As a specimen in his prime
A good strong field worker
But each and every single time
The same words would he utter
The same denial each and every time...
"I will not work for you!"
One day he was beaten...
Severely punished for his crime
For refusing to obey his "Master"
Yes, for refusing to give in...
He was beaten over and over again...
Finally after recovering...
He was put upon that block again
He had become a pariah...
Very few wanted to waste their time on him
Still one man persisted...
Another thought to buy him too
Even though he said those words
"I will not work for you!"
His new master took him home with him
Showed him to the new life he would lead
But as he said before...
Those words he repeated once again
"I will not work for you!"
His new master was in fact no master
He wanted to become his friend
He said "I am not your master!
I have bought you here...
To set you free again!"
The poor man cried out his anguish
The poor man cried out his pain
"You have saved me...
You have set me free...
You are my friend not master...
For you I will do anything!"
From this early beginning
A closeness was gained...
For he did everything for his redeemer...
Willingly... and always...without chains...

Jesus has bought us...only to set us free...
With His precious blood...on Calvary...
