What exactly does it mean?
Someone who spends money...
Uses up resources freely
Recklessly, wastefully, extravagantly

So that means that the prodigal son
Took his father's goods and money
Yes that's exactly what he did honey
Took it, spent it, used it...
Wasted everything he was given
On extravagant high living
Didn't care about a thing
Had a great time, doing everything
Until it was all long gone
Then he had to swallow his pride
Had to look at life from the other side
Had to understand about real life
See what it was like to be poor
Had to, maybe beg from door to door

But His Father loved him anyway
Wanted what was best, come what may
Waited by the gate each and every day
Until he could see him coming along the way

Our Father in heaven loves us just so
He is full of love don't you know?
He is waiting at heaven's gate...
He will be waiting until it gets late
Please hurry along and ask
His forgiveness before it's too dark
Probation will close soon enough
Then it will be way too late...
Then He will have to shut that gate
Will you be left outside in the rain?
Oh too bad if you do...to your shame!
