It pays to be humble

It pays to be humble
No matter your age
For one day, time will come
For you to admit though strange
With truth, honesty and dismay
That you are no longer
The one that is stronger
That you are weak, be meek
For though you were good
It must be surely understood
That youth does not last
Will you then be cast?
Into the depths of despair
Will you realise that...
Sometimes you didn't care?
When you said and did
All those terrible things...
Will memories bring?
A sadness of spirit...
Did you not try your hardest?
To live a life truly blessed
Did you give in to vanity?
Maybe utter profanity
Oh sorrow and pain...
Will you be humbled again?
For all those times that remain...
When you remember those days?
Those long ago days
When you had the chance
To respect and advance
But sadly these escaped your sanity...

Respect the old...
When you are young
Help the weak...
When you are strong
Confess your faults...
When you are wrong
For one day you will be
Old, weak and wrong...
