I prayed unto The Lord
To send His angels winging
To have you safe within their keeping
While you were sleeping
I whispered your precious name
Caught it, held it close within my heart
There will I forever keep it

I moved around as in a daze
My thoughts turned inward
Yet I felt them floating, fleeting
While you were sleeping
I daydreamed of togetherness
Of endless days of happiness
Ever will you in my heart remain

I wished I had gossamer wings
To lift me ever upwards love
So I could look in upon your dreams
While you were sleeping
I thanked The Lord above
For rewarding me with your love
For answering my prayers from above
