From Jerusalem to Jericho

From Jerusalem to Jericho
It is a dangerous road
As the elevation decreases
So precious life itself descends
The Good Samaritan was travelling
Found the Levite in the road
The robbers had taken almost everything
Only left him with his life in his hands
The priest had crossed to the other side
Of that well travelled road
He looked but would not touch him
Though he could see the troubled soul
The other Levite totally ignored him
Would not even look upon his face
Simply kept on walking: picking up his pace
The Good Samaritan was the only man
Who would stoop to help him!
The only one who had a heart!
Bore him up upon his donkey
Took him to the nearest town
There he paid that inn keeper
To help him; heal him; feed him
No matter how long the need was found

Jesus is that Good Samaritan
He is the ultimate example
He risked everything to save us
That all mankind might be reconciled
In His righteousness...
