Sunset on top of Mt Lofty

We drove further and further up
Right up to the very peak...
For there was that beautiful view
That everybody went to seek...
The sun was gone into the sea
But the colours were unique
The red and orange a blessing
For us all gathered upon that peak
I could see Port Adelaide miles away
Could see all of those wetlands
The city centre more difficult to define
For it was swallowed up into the night
The airport was visible by its flashing lights
Obviously there to warn incoming flights...
Saw the Happy Valley reservoir...
Reflecting that little bit of sunlight
The city streets all lit up...
As the day was slipping quickly into night
The blackness was encroaching
Even up to the mountain top
For the day was surely over
Time for little creatures to go to sleep
We saw something scampering
Between the seats along the edge
At first I thought it was a rat...
But no; it was a tiny Bandicoot!
