The Greed of man

Look at this Earth of ours: how much it all has changed
We like to think we're okay but reality demands
We look a little deeper and try to understand
That our dear old Earth is sighing because of our demands.
Instead of using up the stuff that we already have on hand
The need for new and exciting greatly does expand
We need to care for our dear country: we need to recycle and to clean
What we have already taken to restore the balance here!
The Earth has only so much to give: we must help her heal and breathe
If we really want to continue here to live!
Our factories pollute her air and waters: our mines they dig too deep
We scar our Earth's dear surface and seek to take her jewels
What on earth is man thinking to not give back at all!
Think you that she is happy? Think you that she is in good cheer?
If man continues taking what will happen next year?
Volcanoes are erupting: Tsunamis in their wake
The Earth in tremors quaking to her dying sounds!
Shouldn't we be waking? Should we not look around and sigh?
The snows and avalanches! Mudslides and sink holes!
Hurricanes and cyclones abound! The Arctic and Antarctic melting!
Adding to our woes!
Lord help us help our Earth before it is too late!
