In His place

Some days I just need to be heard
To know that some one understands
A listening ear to hear these simple words
To find a little peace amid the strife
Of this my God-given: not so peaceful life
Isn't it the same for everyone you ask?
Trying to find a little comfort amid the stress
Yes: this is our God-given task: it's true
To be somebody that another soul can turn to
In their pain: that they receive from God a sign
That they are not alone upon this earth
That they are worth the love and care...
That Jesus has promised to lavish upon all
We must do this in His precious name
Be there to lift up another soul...
To give comfort where there is need...
To offer our support and a gentle hand
A soft word, a sweet embrace: in His place
Yes: indeed it is our blessed work
To be the comforter when none will go
To be the link: to love our neighbour
To offer up a little of our precious time
For God so loved the world that He gave
His most precious possession: His Son
For us: for everyone: praise His Holy name
