The voice of reason

Have you heard the voice of reason?
Have you heard the earnest plea?
Of our Lord in heaven: calling out
Yes: calling out to you and me...
That still, small voice is whispering 
It is soft and you must sit quietly
For in the din of this lifetime...
It is difficult to hear its quiet plea
Listen well to the voice of reason
Know you not that it will soon be still
If you grieve the blessed Holy Spirit
It will eventually cease calling out to you
So
Have you heard the voice of reason?
Do you hear it still?
Has the chance to halt your sinful progress?
Been swallowed up in your life's din?
Has that quiet voice been calling?
Have you heard it recently?
Has it been going in one ear?
And out the other
Now answer honestly to me...
