A Mother's love

A mother's love
Is it ever enough?
Do your kids remember
All the love you give
Do they seem to quickly forget
As soon as teenage-hood is near?
Why does a mother have to hurt so much?
Why does she have to cry those bitter tears?
Why does her child forget so easily?
After a few more years?
She's protected you
Ever since the day you were born
Took care of you
Nurtured you; loved you
Took on the burden of your life
Never asked for a thing
Never expected anything
Just for your love in return!
Now he's back in your life
She knows how much it hurt
When he couldn't be bothered
To give a call or send his love
I guess he didn't have enough to share
Hung on to all he had
Never wanted to take the time
To learn about your life
Now he's back; still letting you down
But in your desperation for a "Dad"
You've forgotten your precious mum
How she was both mum and dad for you
How she protected you from his
Indifference!
Wake up honey and look around you!
Open up your eyes and make amends
Please don't let your love lie wanting
Please forgive your poor dear mother's shortcomings
Please give your darling mother a hug!
