The bonfire at Glossop

Guy Fawkes Night was always fun
Our friends had a huge bonfire at Glossop
All the Hungarian families were there
My friends Martha and Elizabeth
All the boys; we were outnumbered
Three to one; at least!
The boys had to do all the silly stuff
Letting off threepenny bungers
Right next to each other's feet
Scaring each other
The usual male escapades!
The bonfire was huge
The flames leaping up 
Into the the dark night sky
A huge spider was on Michael's back
It had jumped from one of the logs!
Alec and John were teasing him but
He didn't believe their tales
Until at last he asked us girls
Knowing we wouldn't lie
He jumped so high when we confirmed
That it was climbing up towards his head
You should have seen his face!
As he danced around
Trying to dislodge his unexpected guest!
