I was five years old in 1962
We travelled to Tasmania
Visiting our friends the Boys family
The beauty of their farmland
The majesty of those huge gum trees
We went by tractor to a field
Had fireworks to celebrate
Guy Fawkes night!
We did the same with
Our dear friends in Geelong
When we got back to the mainland
Lots of fun for us kids
The rockets and the penny bungers
The noisy whiz of the spinning wheels
Sparklers and Roman candles
We had the lot! We had such fun together!
The reason it sticks in my memories
Is because we had more fireworks
In South Australia in November
Three times in one year
How could any child forget!
