Innocent weed

Our fruit block at Kingston-on-Murray
Was such a beautiful place to be!
Halfway up a little hill
Beautiful views remain in my mind still!
I had to ride my bicycle to the bus
Rain or shine it was thus!
Loxton High School was a long way off
I loved going there; that was a plus!
Mum and dad worked so hard
Tilled that soil and grew those trees
Ploughed it up and made furrows
Watered and fertilised
Not only those trees but weeds as well!
You couldn't walk far without your shoes
Because of those nasty prickles!
Innocent weed doesn't sound so bad
But they were a nasty little plant
The finest little prickles grew
White and light as could be
But it was afterwards you felt their sting
So fine and sharp; nearly invisible
Could hardly see them to get them out
Should have called them guilty weed!
